I'm not passionate about defending thieves, I am passionate about correcting people who think if you do something in a video game you must be a bad person.

And no, space pixels is not actual loss, it's space pixels.

Time is money and years invested in this game is time and money. You obviously dont get where im coming from and im not going to agree that you have it all figured out..

The time and money invested is in the interest of entertainment for a game with a very unique set of rules. If you lose isk during said entertainment it's because you made a mistake, it's all in the game. Learn from the mistake and move on. As soon as you can get that through your head, the game will be a lot more fun.

Agreed but I dont have to like it. I mean I really do understand this is a game. You dont have to convince me of that much. I just am pissed at myself right now.

Fair enough, have a nice stiff drink, brush yourself off and get on with it.

I didnt say people do the same thing in RL as they do here. Simply saying a thief is a thief anywhere

What about those of us who like to hunt our fellow man for sport ?

Umm ok

He is saying that he is someone with a particular set of in game skills, skills that make him a nightmare, skills that result in capsuleers exploding violently, often unexpectedly.

Your reasoning means that he does this in real life cause he does this in game.
I do not think that Ralph is a skilled, calculating, mercenary killer (Please correct me if I'm wrong Ralph)

Your reasoning is flawed and I hope you do not play CoD, cause that will blow your mind :)

If you had the opportunity to scam 6b ISK from someone, would you?

If you had an industrial ship target-locked and about to blow up, knowing it had 12b (6b chance to drop) in its cargo, would you take the shot?

What about just an industrial ship, with no clue to its cargo (could be empty)?

The point is, for some it's a game with pixels with no value.

For others, there's definitely value but it's still a game of shooting spaceships; don't play if you can't handle the loss. Imagine playing chess against someone who freaked out every time you took a piece.

And others, like you, have a moral code that they adhere to even inside a game, that not many share (a few do). This game emulates war, and there is no chivalry in war.

This scam is not new. It's been listed in various guides for a long time now. EVE comes with the warning that scams and other "nefarious" actions are allowed. And the players like the game the way it is (that's why they play it), and often victims of scams or PVP have a tendency to demand that CCP change the game, which the rest of the community would prefer they don't.

Make of it what you will, but my question is this: do you still find the concept of this game fun? If yes, even 6B, you can recover / restart. If not, then there's no point in playing a game that you don't find fun.

Sorry that this happened to you. Yes, its a game but I would never do anything to cause someone loss of time and money
unless they had it coming. Hope you don't give up on the game but learn from it and live another day to have fun destroying
those who deserve it. Get even and, if fate has it, It would my honor to be by your side when you do it.

Being mad is okay.
Just learn from it and exercise a healthy level of caution when dealing with others in the future.
We all get our ragey moments in this game.
However, yeah... As Loyd and Ralph have mentioned, many of us partake in activities in the game that we would NEVER do in RL.

We're not closet thieves and murderers.

It's just that this game allows for thievery and murder and all sorts of nogoodery that we have learned can be quite enjoyable.
They have even advertised in the past 'Be The Villain!', the problem with this is preconceptions from other games as to what a villain is. It's not the comical, yet ineffective Snidely Whiplash archetype in this game that is the villain... it's con men, thieves, gankers, and other forms of predation.... all of which appealing to different types of player.

You got a taste of evil in EVE.
It stings, but it's not the end of the world.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

Rock on.

Just don't confuse game behavior with RL behavior. If you play poker, then bluffing (lying) is an accepted game mechanic. People that bluff in game might be totally honest with you outside the game. People that play FPS don't run around shooting people at random in RL like they do in game.

In eve scamming is very much accepted as long as the scam takes place completely within game space. Sorry for your loss, but Goonswarm, one of the most oldest corps in the game has always told their newbies to basically perform this same scam, charging a recruiting fee etc, when the only way to get in was via something awful forum invite after 3 months of participation.

There are two major rules in eve.
1. Never fly what you can't afford to lose.
2. Trust no one.

One of the more enjoyable aspects of eve is being in an environment where everyone has to trust each other to work together towards a common end, and at the same time, everyone is constantly cutting their losses in case one of the others turns on them. Being in a WH corp is all kinds of fun.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

This game hurts. I feel sick when I lose a frigate.

I bet you turned every color in the rainbow and sweated beads of pure hate.

Here is my advice: grab a beer and toast the tricky bastards who got you.

You may be able to get them back. Perhaps you can infiltrate. Maybe you can get a gank or two on them. Maybe not.

No matter what, that is the game. You just lost a hand where you went all in. That sick feeling is proof you played.

Had this been poker, you would have lost more. You just wouldn't have felt so angry.

Eve isn't special because it simulates mining or because we can all chat. It's special because you feel shaky and want to throw up after an engagement.

You paid for that sense of loss. Savor it. Do something with it. If you need help, contact me in game.

Hello OP. I know the people you are talking about and I am sure we can make things right here. I am an official New Order Agent and therefor I can set you up with the required mining permit. The permit is only 10mil ISK and valid for a full year. Please contact me via EVE mail and I will look into this.

as is scamming, stealing, backstabbing, espionage, etc, as long as it's in-game, all these are allowed.

If ever Ima Wreckyou ever leaves eve or new order it will be a sad day for us all, especially as I don't have her corpses in my collection

At least you say more than " AG fail again" like some of your bot like cohorts do

That is probably because I ussually dunk miners and not freighters because it is usually not possible for me to dedicate as much time and attention to the game as is needed if you fly with a fleet of people.

I just don't see AG failing all the time because since loyal started to dunk Freighters all AGs are somehow in Uedama and left the miners behind. Not only are you failing non stop daily, constantly, you are not even present and don't even try.
