Moving to WH For PI Only - Smart?

So, I have 3 chars running 18 PI planets and the yield in High Sec sucks. Anytime I try to venture into Null Sec I get bubble killed (every time!) and I want the increased yields WH's have.

I'll have to fuel a POS so I have to take the expense of that into account when calculating overall revenue.

My question is, would it be a smart move to move into a WH knowing its strictly for PI and Industry?

There is no reason not to try it. Ppl live in wh only for pvp, only for pve, mainly for mining, some only for manufacturing ... PI yield is better, so no reason not to go where PI is good, if it's what you wanna do.

If you really only want to do PI and have no intentions of running sites or anything else, why bother with a POS?
Just log your characters off at a safe and use one with a failer to carry it out for sale.
Logistically it's a bit more work every time you log in, but considering the cost of a medium or large POS (a small will get killed just because) it might be worth considering.

*shudder* PI extraction in HighSec? eeeew.

A large POS runs around 500m/month in fuel blocks. You *could* get by with a Medium POS, a small one will get popped by some bored wanderers, simply because it won't take long.

I'd suggest finding a couple of friends to go into it with or join a WH corp.

Yes, extraction rates in WH space is much, much higher than in HiSec. It's also better than most of 0.0 space.

I appreciate the advice.

I found a .2 system with a 10% tax (with my skill) that is much higher yield than what I'm used to seeing in high sec, so it will hold me over until we get the corp more established with the proper funding to move to WH space.

Hehe ... i often read posts like this in here ... but more sad ones, where ppl ask for buddies in wh space and i think like "oh god please someone take him" ...

So in the future i will refer to this post and when someone comes and sadly asks for friends or a warm home in wh space ... i will give them your number ... ehm your mail ... your name ... you know what i mean :D

Could live out of an Orca easily if you find a hole with decent moons and a HS static. That is what I used to do (grant it I did mine to PVP) Basically my Alt sat cloaked in a safe in the Orca and anytime I needed a different ship i would warp to him grab the ship I needed warp off and cloak him again. You could do the same to offload your ore into the Orca and once a month unload your PI. But for something like this you would need a cloaky scanning alt and an alt to sit in the Orca. Use your cloaky scanner to find the HS static BM it and see where it goes before you even consider warping that Orca to it. Do your manufacturing in HS while you are offloading the Orca. Also keep your cloaky scanner on the hole while your Orca is in HS to ensure a trap isnt being set up for you when you get back. Ohh I almost forgot, D-scan, D-scan, D-scan.

All that and also ideas of ppl doing it without a POS is possible. But really really ineffective, especially since you may want to use all your toons for PI, rather then one or two and the last is permanently sitting in an orca or whereever.

And the moment someone spots an orca without a POS in the system and might realize that there are no wormholes getting rolled, and nobody jumps from one wormhole to another and there is also no new sig ... thats where they know there is an orca very likely in a safe. And then they either give up or leave someone in there for eventually finding it one day. risk/reward is not good in this case.

Better get a POS and even if it's just a small one for the beginning. Create the POS fuel PI yourself, buy other stuff in highsec and lets start. Other PI you create is for sale then ofc.

I mean it is true a small pos can be shot down very easy. But when there is a small POS and it has some mods on it, lets say scram, some ecm, some guns, maybe a web, some hardeners (guess thats almost at the end of available PG/CPU), then even shooting a small POS is nothing you do in a drive-by-shooting manner ... You need ppl that are willingly taking it down. And at that point keep the risk low. Have an SMA with acually only the ships you need for PI and in WORST something for doing sites and scanning. Total worth maybe 250M ISK. Tower and CHA with PI ... thats it. So stront filled tower is still something where ppl have to sit to the end with forces to really take down your tower completely.

And in that case, you still can warp out or try to escape/safe your stuff. It's more work for them for a rather small reward.

And if you see that profit raises by beeing more effective, having better skills or prices increasing on the marked, then you can still swtich to a medium tower with more security.

just wait for citadels if your concerned about fuel, citadels wont need fuel for what you plan on doing this for

They still need a good amount of ISK for the initial buy and setup.
