What's the best place to report and discuss bugs?

Over the last few months, I've noticed quite a few bugs in the Eve client.

Where's the best place to report and discuss bugs?

I know about the bug report form, but unfortunately reports I've made there before seem have fallen into a black hole (they aren't fixed, and I never receive feedback). I'm an experienced professional software developer, and don't mind putting in the time to document the issues I find, but I'd like use a more visible process.

I also tried #armchair-developers on Eve Slack, but so far no luck there.

Any suggestions? If I started a thread here on the forum, with separate posts describing each issue, is it likely that a CCP developer would see them?

Depends how hammered they are with other things, but posting in Issues, Workaround and Localization will (usually) at the very least have anyone else who shares the same problem chime in too to confirm the bugs existence... and devs often reply.

submitting bug reports is still the way to go, as devs will ask you to do this either way. If the bugs are breaking or should have a high priority (not because it's high priority for you, but for the community, but I trust you got that part), you could also start a thread in the issue-section Archibald posted, perhaps even mentioning the bug report number there.

Yes, not receiving feedback sucks. What I personally would like to see is an updated status (new/rejected/accepted) and a priority-score if it is accepted.

The correct way is the report bug option from the in-game F12 help menu. That gives them all of the logging from the client and gets it to an appropriate dev team.

Like any software dev group, they will be prioritising fixing bugs in order of their severity and they have to balance time spend finding & fixing bugs against deving new features.

You say you. Haven't received any feedback - just to make sure you know, as it is a common misunderstanding, you don't get any sort of alert that a dev has replied to a bug report asking for more infor or that the status has changed. You can check on them from the bug reports section of the website though. In general, you will not get anything more than a status update unless they need more info.

Even if it takes a while, all bug reports are looked at.

If you really want to discuss things on the forums, then Issues, workarounds and Localization is the forum for you.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll try the Issue section of the forum, and see how that works. (first post is up).

For me, if I can't discuss bugs with others, I'm not interested in taking my time to write them up and have them vanish down a one-way black hole.

They -- as in CCP I mean -- will likely be a bit more present in that section on the 8th; it'll be patch day and all.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

Just because you don't get a response doesn't mean the report is being ignored. The report may have internal notes that you wouldn't be able to see. It may have been referred to the bug hunters for reproduction. CCP doesn't respond to all bug reports but does track them.

IMO, if you want to report bugs, use the bug report feature from F12.

If you want to discuss bugs, especially with a view towards fixing them faster, then join the bug hunters volunteer team.

Sounds interesting. How do I do that?

Not very, since I told them the links for the "how to submit a bug report" and other links in the sticky were broken and they still are.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Can we discuss palmetto bugs? I just love these guys. They're so BIG!

Is it irony that the link is broken for me?
