Just want to say a big thank you for the help everyone has been giving me on the forums :)

I've tried to pick up most things myself ingame, but some bits, like making my safe spot more safe i've needed you guys to help me refine :)

No worries, we have some extremely knowledgeable regulars in this sub forum ranging from high industry to bloodthirsty savage so you can generally get some solid advice here, unless its from droidster , that guys a ****ing troll or an edjit I can't tell.

Worth noting the other subs can be markedly less helpfull (and flat out weaponised in the case of general discussion or crime and punishment).

Read the others for a bit and catch their beat and flow before taking advice from the other subs,
there is some fantastic information out there ,truly there is , but it's mixed in with belligerent misinformed drivel and flagrant trolling so it pays to be able to tell the difference.

This is a bad idea.

Eve is a true MMO in that it is intended to be played with others. The devs default is to encourage group efforts over solo.

Further this game is famous for it's learning cliff. Most if not all of us here helping you had other's helping us as we came up and understand how important having people that you can ask questions of is.

We have no issues helping you because most of us are busy trying to repay the help other's gave us by paying it forward.

Well i am much appreciating the advice.

I think i'm plodding along nicely in exploration. Got 90mill ISK saved up so far. While I know this is a tiny amount in the grand scheme of things, the amount I can get each "run" is going up.

Most guides I have read have stated that I should go into NullSec asap, but frankly i'm enjoying taking my time, making myself comfortable and learning the relevant skills.

I think i've managed to navigate through the 0.5-0.3 low sec zones without much bother (except that one time i got scared by all the empty ships lol). I'm sorting out a plan of attack for 0.3-0.0 low sec zones. Don;t really want to go into NullSec until I can cloak and have enough money to replace stuff without crying hehe.

Thanks Again
Teium :)

At a minimum you will probably want a covops cloak for running around null sec doing exploration. It will help in low sec too as you ferry out your hard-earned items. Glad to see you're having a good time!

Not far off getting a cloak I believe. Do you have to have a covert-ops ship to fly the cloak that allows to to move while cloaked.

I am, massively. Its a hard game to learn, but unlike other MMOs, when I learn something new i'm really proud of myself and it noticeably makes life in eve better.........it's almost like real life Shocked

Don't rush into nullsec or a player corp, take your time to develop an EvE "personality", basically means knowing what you like and what not, you are doing fine.

I'm my own NPC alt.

Yes, like a covops which needs a racial frigate to 5 trained. But it lets you move at full speed while cloaked which makes navigating dangerous space easier. They also have bonuses to hacking so that would come in handy. They're more expensive than a tech 1 exploration frigate though so be sure that you're ready to handle its inevitable loss before you start using it.

i want to point out here the astero only needs galente and amarr frig to three and the prereqs for the covops cloak,
you can be warping cloaked with this ship in or around a week with it.

granted it costs a lot more, near enough 80-90 mill

Low Sec can be a lot less safe than null sec. Some null sec can even be safer than high sec. Of course everything is situational and there are no hard and fast rules here. I just wanted to point out that if you want to go to null sec and would like a reduced risk factor then get with the right people and you can do it safely.

You do have to learn how to operate in null to live there safely. It's not that null is inherently more safe but you have more tools with which to make yourself safe.

I got killed and podded for the first time on Saturday :(

had 10mill in my cargo as well :( (A lot for a newb like me)

Was my own fault annnnnnnnnnd i even learned from it, so not all bad.

Was flying around low sec zones doing exploration. I noticed that someone with a shifty name and weird bio kept following me, but I thought nothing of it. I then went to a zone where I was the only one there, scanned down a relic site and went about my business. I hold my hands up now that I didn't D-Scan nor did I pay attention to my UI whilst I was hacking. Someone warped in with a Astero and targeted me. I managed to start warping, but because I didn't notice right away when they arrived, they managed to scramble me.

I did learn from this though - let me explain (was quite proud of myself lol)

On Sunday I was going from zone to zone in the same area and noticed this same guy following me again. I even tested him and double backed on my self and he still followed. I found a relic site again and went about hacking as you do. This time I kept clicking D-Scan every few moves and and had my P&P open ready to click for my safe zone. I noticed sisters of Eve probes bunched up within 5 AU of me. I stopped hacking straight away and waited. Low and behold the same guy who killed me showed up and I bolted straight away.

I later found out after reading the two player bios that they were from the same corp. He tried a few more times in different zones to grab me, but I have now learned how to spot when I'm being scanned down from the advice form you guys (thanks again!) and managed to evade him each time.

Just thought Id share my progress in eve in case anyone was interested :)

+1.

I left RvB with a >100m debt to one member.
When I had enough to pay them back, I sent it.
It was returned with a note that I owe that ISK to a newbro in need, with interest.

Not reallyP

For me it is mainly because I started playing alone and it took me about 1 year to finally find people that were helpful in answering a lot of questions and giving me guidance in EVE on a regular basis.

And only after that I found out about the forums due to some GD threads and then I saw this place (or to be honest the old setup where we had the NCQA and TAQA).

Been here ever sinceBig smileBig smile

So good to help new players get their feet into EVE and see them succesful later on. Gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside, at which point I undock and kill them till the feeling goes away as it is a weird feeling for an EVE player

This just reinforces my perception that EVE players have Sado/Masochistic tendencies... Shocked
