Was Monoclegate a staged PR event?

When they introduced Monocles, there was massive protests and hurfing. Over an item that gave ZERO advantage.
Meanwhile, we now have Skill Injectors, which gives you a direct advantage, and not a single **** was given.

This leads me to wonder if CCP themselves staged the whole monoclegate thing for PR, to get their jita statue on the news headlines again. The player base never themselves organized into the protests without the push of CCP Community Organizers trying to fan the flames, in an attempt to generate news articles about their game.

And now with skill injectors, a feature that REALLY IS pay2win, there is no protests, simply because CCP knows any news articles about the injectors WILL look bad for them. They dont want protests or publicity about it, and so they never bothered flaming the community into an uproar like they did with the monocles.

"War declarations are never officially considered griefing and are not a bannable offense, and it has been repeatedly stated by the developers that the possibility for non-consensual PvP is an intended feature." - CCP

...You...you do realise that monacles were a symptom, not a cause, right?

And that, much as I'm unsure of the idea, the SP you get from extractors has at least been trained by someone somewhere, not just created from thin air? It's not really any more pay to win than the bazarr, or ebay...

I'd be happy with SP injectors if they also killed the Bazaar so that ownership of characters stopped changing.
Some form of SP trading is a necessary evil to combat gold & account sellers in the game, as without it people will simply indulge in a black market, which means people will get hacked over it and scammed over it.
But both the Bazaar and SP Injectors is unnecessary.

Do you know how expensive injectors get after 100m SP?

I don't see a feature or idea here.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

The 'riots' where caused by more factors then just a cosmetic item. The Monocle was used as herald of complaints but it was not the direct cause of the issues that were at hand.

Here's how to solve your dilema.

1. Extract all SP from all characters.
2. Contract all items and isk from all accounts to Iain Cariaba.
3. Biomass all characters.
4. Unsub all accounts.
5. Never play another MMO again.

Those are the steps you take to avoid any sort of pay2win.
