Collateral Contracts

I'll start at the end, this was my afterthought and I don't really like it myself so read this para if you like but don't pay attention to it. When making a courier contract the collateral can only be a maximum of 200% the estimated value of the goods it contains. But my immediate thought was how does that account for blueprints so I'm not really pushing this one.

I propose that courier contracts have a minimum payment per jump as % of collateral. Nothing too unreasonable 0.1% or 0.2% of the collateral should be just fine.

I was just looking at contracts and sorted by collateral. At the top is Jita to Dodi 10 bil collateral at a measley 2 mil a jump. Would that be worthwhile? Organising a fleet of 20 logistics to follow my freighter to ensure "nothing unfortunate were to happen" resulting in me losing the collateral. No it wouldn't. Apply the minimum per jump; of 0.1% and that's 150 mil or 0.2%, 300 mil. Worth it? Perhaps. I want to run these contracts just to **** off the people making them. But I'm not gonna do it for peanuts, I get a better rate doing lvl 4's in high sec.

Something else with courier contracts, why can't I remove the items from the container then put them back. The postal service does it all the time and the customer is non the wiser. Why can't I do that with a courier contract? Split the cargo between a bunch of ships. Move it all, then put it all back to complete?

If brute force isn't working, you're just not using enough.

Please Note: Any advice given comes with the caveat that nothing will be suitable for every situation.

Or, and this is a crazy idea, let the free market decide what's a fair rate. If it's too low for your taste, don't take it.

The only thing I wish would change is the minimum time to complete. Make that 3 hours for express shipping. Better for shippers (gets there faster), better for haulers (higher rewards), better for scammers (smaller window of opportunity). Everyone wins.

If a contract doesn't appeal to you don't do it.

If you are really, really lucky, the contract is a trap, and one of your competitors will take it, get ganked, and get ruined so badly that they cease hauling.

One less competitor means juicier contracts for you. The ganker wins. You win. The freighter manufacturer wins. The catalyst manufacturer wins. Everyone wins except one competitor.

FWIW - scam contracts usually offer very, very good payouts on completion, far better than non-scam ones. 10b collateral, 30m fee from Jita to Dodi is not a scam. 10b/300m would absolutely be a scam.
