I'm never one to stir the pot, nor offend peoples sensibilities - much (,one ganker receives "brain tumour's" from my posts.Smile)

But here in Gods Country ( Oz ), we have a great cultural tradition of sledging.Big smile

So if any of you bastards have been offended by my posts - you are not culturally sensitive enough.Blink

Thieving pirates discuss INTEGRITY; Anarchist gankers give us LAWS; and Whoring merc's cry then blow off clients with INSULTS.

Up is down and down is up in the C&P Forum.

I personally smack talk like crazy.

What I can't stand is the ultra-cliche factually inaccurate, cringe worthy crap you get out of people who aren't members of the civilized highsec PVPer master race. Unactionable threats, "something something low/nulsec", use of the term griefing when it blatantly doesn't apply, "something something space honor", et cetera. All that unoriginal, ignorant, reddit quality crap.

At least when you're dealing with other highsec PvPers you get smack talk that actually reflects what is going on.

I think it depends. While some animosity between two groups can drive conflict, I've actually seen it go too far and become an unpleasant experience between the two groups. They needed a bit of a reset to remind themselves that the other party was giving them content and there was some mutual benefits to providing content to each other.

In terms of disparaging your competitors, the people who are the best don't need to smack talk their competitors. Think of some groups that you don't see here in C&P very often but rather are in game, getting things done. Surely a few are already popping into your head. These groups let their actions and results do all the talking.

Just bite the pillow already. It's life, the realm of smack talk is every where, daily life. It's the Darwinism that drives it. You can either be sitting crying in your station, or be out the fighting in your cruiser, either way smack happens. Those whom use outside game advances or irl are crossing that golden line which is harassment.

I believe smack is healthy, it determines strengths and weaknesses even before a fight, allowing you to gain the moral aspect of the morale of your opponent, sometimes netting you the upper hand, sometimes not. We all eventually bite the pillow, or eat our words but it's all healthy competition. Darwinism in EVE Online.

Imagine a C&P forum or local chat where people wont smack talk each other. Would you be more or less happy and why ? Smack talk creates conflicts aka Eve content, but to much might be annoying. Where is the fine line between them ?

I'm curious how people think about these things, as you have alliances like Public Enemy who hardly ever smack talk to people and others like me or CODE. who might do it to much sometimes.

Smack talk is all part of the meta. I admit I enjoy a good trolling in local sometimes. Though there IS a line. Eve just wouldn't be the same without a little smack here and there. If you can't handle some smack or trolling..either htfu or exercise your ability to use the block button. Blink

But would that also be possible when you have two alpha males ? And what do you think of Seegers smack talk above ? It's not an answer to the question, but more an example of smack.

I do my best trolling by not responding at the appropriate times Blink

Eve can get pretty boring at times. Smack talk in local after having ganked or killed someone just to get a rise out of them can create GREAT content. Everything from them just firing back and ranting to incoming wardecs or even more if you're in nullsec. Trash talk is part of what makes eve a sandbox. People who can't stomach it are playing the wrong game.

modern merc recipe:

2 Cups of station hugging
3 Sprinkles of npc alts - guardian brand.
1 Quart of strawman smacktalk
2 parts forum chest beating
1 part offgrid boost

the strawman is the toughest part, to be a good merc u need all 5 ingredients.

Not really sure where I stand on this, some people can smack talk with great skill, others it more like a tantrum.

In a past life in EvE breaking up low sec pirate gate camps was always a way of producing a barrage of smack, some would last for days, that was fun

As for this line and crossing it, I'm hardened to smack talk (rl experiences) but remember some are not and saying boo to some people will make tears, so keep it in game to be safe, we do have all types in eve even girls

Doing highsec wardecs, I only did smack talk once in local and it wasn't even towards my war target. I was in Zorozih trying to convince my WT to undock and some miner spoke up in local, telling me to shut up. I calmly told the miner to calm down and to go back sucking on rocks since his iron level was low.

As my WT undocked and we duked it out, he started to smart mouth my old corp name (Happy Endings Massage Parlor) and if I was servicing anyone. After I killed and podded my war target, I then told the guy in local that my war was ending and I needed a new corporation to wardec, and included my calling card (zkillboard corp link). And then I asked him, "Is this the service you requested?"

Was in system for over an hour and he never said anything more. Still should have wardecced him but had to run to work.

Well, thats another thing I was curious about. Do people use that block button a lot, because they hate smacktalk or want to protect themselves of saying EULA breaking things.

I use it all the time.

I'm a fat, bearded anti-social recluse who likes nothing better than to take from those who are far more successful and better looking than me. It makes me feel good, but thanks to the block button, as soon as they start getting the better of me on an intellectual level I can shut them up.

It's awesome.

Had some alliance smacktalk us stupidly saying they were going to drop dreads on our tower and take our moon couple of years ago.

They were talking so much smack it was beyond belief . So they turn up with 6 dreads pounding the tower loling at us in local and posting some Russian stuff that wasn't even translatable.

For some reason all the local chat stopped right at the point we drop 70 battleships on them and wrecked them all.

They even triaged some carriers in for good measure.

Always be wary of corps with industrial names and be careful who you smacktalk. Big smile
