Imagine a C&P forum or local chat where people wont smack talk each other. Would you be more or less happy and why ? Smack talk creates conflicts aka Eve content, but to much might be annoying. Where is the fine line between them ?

I'm curious how people think about these things, as you have alliances like Public Enemy who hardly ever smack talk to people and others like me or CODE. who might do it to much sometimes.

I dislike it. I even have a list of names. Some are crossed out, some are awaiting service.

There's nothing more satisfying than reducing a quasi-intellectual gobshite to a stream of desperately linked gifs as they try to claw back some credibility in local.

So yes, I agree, it does create content - for me at least.

You do know you're also at the side of players who smack talk a lot, even to the point of breaking the EULA ? For once try to reply with something serious then your basic forum smack replies. Dont pretend that you cant, as I have chats with you before where I actually enjoyed talking to you.

I think you should give up being a "merc" and ask CCP to give you a job being an interior decorator for the inside stations since you never leave.

As there are trained professionals who are not only better at it, but also get paid much more than I do... I generally avoid smack talk. Occasionally there's a special snowflake who gets a bit under my skin, and they may earn themselves a quip here and there. But yeah, I'm not paid enough for that job... I just hunt rabbits and poke bears.

Come hell or high water, this sick world will know I was here.

Smack talk must be amusing and/ or witty imo. It must also not cross that line we all know exists

But would that also be possible when you have two alpha males ? And what do you think of Seegers smack talk above ? It's not an answer to the question, but more an example of smack.

It depends on the smacktalk.

If somebody says GF in local when you just lost your ship to like a blob of 12 or more I actually think that's a form of smacktalk.

Forum smacktalk can be fun as there's a group you get to know and most of the time its just troll.

Then there's the morons who smack talk stupidly and there's actually no point.

My favorite are the in game smack talkers who dec you then tell you to pay up some daft fee only to have there arses handed to them on a plate when you blow them up.

Smack talk is fun but there's limitations to learning how far you can push the button.

I myself don't do it

No, because in most cases I'm the one smack talking. And I enjoy doing it to my "enemies". Twisted I just wonder where people draw a line, as that seems to be different for everyone. I also wonder if people think smack talk is ok if it disrupts your enemies.

Smack is a great tool, it can be the difference in an impending fight, it is possible to goad your opponents into playing their hand before they were intending, thus confusing their comms. i love smack talking and it has given me some of the funniest moments in eve

I don't generally engage in smack talk. Noragen and his propaganda department does it enough for both of us. Smack talk is okay and part of EVE as far as I see it and it does make c&p more lively for one. Admittingly some of it gets old. Especially claiming 'tears' for people just having different opinion to yours. What's with this salt addiction anyway?

I love abit of smack and banter, its what seperates the men from the missioners.
However some people get a little too personal over games and thats where the line is crossed, some people bring illnesses, family, friends, home addresses, death threats and god knows what else into play and its unacceptable.

I also think harassment and bullying is terrible in the online communities nowadays, i believe this to be down to the combination of social media, lack of socialisation and franky people with anger management problems.
