Master looting

Currently, forming fleets with players you do not know well for doing complexes is problematic because the loot drops can be highly unbalanced. You can do complexes for 3 hours and get nothing, then do a site and 500M in modules drop in one can. That one can could be the take for whole evening. With this kind of loot pattern it is very risky to invite strangers to fleet because they have a huge temptation to ninja loot the can and leave instead of sharing the loot with the other players in the team.

One possible approach to improving this situation would be to add a Master Looting / cargo hold padlocking functionality. Allow fleets to appoint a master looter and only the master looter will be able to remove objects from wrecks or containers. Other players in the fleet would not be able to move items into their cargo hold.

To be more specific how this idea could work:

- the FC could lock the cargohold of any ship in his fleet, preventing a fleet member from loading anything into their cargohold

- there would be a "lock all cargoholds" at both fleet and squadron levels

- the FC can selectively unlock the cargohold of any particular ship or ships in the fleet (the designated looters)

- there would be right-click option on fleet members to "unlock cargohold" available to the FC

- if a player leaves the fleet their cargohold remains locked until they dock at a station

Another fix would be public notes. You post a public note that the person is a ninja thief and everyone else can see it in their public notes.

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

This would work great because no one lies in Eve. Roll

What's to stop the master looter from stealing it all anyway, and reneging on pledges to share the loot?

Are you trying to kill what makes EVE so unique? You are, aren't you? :S

The FC already gets a list of who looted what.

If people are grifting, you Broadcast Target and go push their **** in.

Great job, Droidster. Yet another wonderful idea that is 110% contrary to all that is EvE.

Please, tell us all why you play a game you obviously hate so much. Seriously, I want to know.

No - Eve is a cold, hard place where anyone can turn around and back stab you at any time. Mechanics should not be changed to make it a more cuddly and friendly place. If you want space-love, it is the players that need to do it.

Damm I thought it was all about being a better thief or else, If you have a skill that help you to steal faster why not.
But it's not the point. Lol

It's all about balance between faster salvaging/looting and being organized in order to do it.
Well there is tools for that like Noctis, Mobile Tractor Units, cargo ships and planification.

No need of anything else...

Eve is built on trust bergen players not trust generated through in game mechanics while e us for a stable game to run there needs to be a certain degree of protecting this is far more than needed.

(I would argue that in some areas the game is already to safe)

Besides all this does is make it so rather than one guy ninja looting a can you have one guy ninja looting the entire nights worth

If you don't trust them don't run with them if you have no one else to run with then decide if you want to risk running with an entrepreneur

If there was a leader board for terrible ideas posted on the forum the Droidster would be on top by a huge margin.

That depends on if you rate by quantity over quality. For quantity of bad ideas, he'd be on top, but for quality, that goes to Yige Shen still.

For highsec, this would sort of make sense. Designate a single wreck owner for the fleet, and the wrecks would be yellow for everyone else. But "locking" the loot is antithetical to Eve. Anyone can loot, so long as they're willing to face the consequences.

Something like this is already implemented, please take a look at the Warp Scrambler, which locks an entire ship, not just the cargohold.
