I was just wondering, if anyone know how to fit Covert Ops ship to travel safe and invisible?

Usually with the fitting tool. You can open it with control-f in game.

Yeah, pretty obvious, isn't it?

Yeah, once its pointed out it seems pretty obvious.

In fact, I meant the equipment appropriate to that kind of ship.

One might consider fitting a covert ops cloaking device to a covert ops frigate class wessel. Fitting an afterburner or MWD might also be a good idea. Perhaps a damage control and some istabs/nanos for faster align times. Then one might consider engaging said cloaking device immediately after decloaking.

But one might also not consider these things, in which case they may be inclined to ask on teh intarweb forumz about how to fit a covert ops class wessel to be invisible.

What Liang is trying to convey is that a covert ops frigate needs... a covert ops cloak (who'd have thunk), and quite possibly an MWD and nanofibers.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I have seen info about cloaking devices, and I don't know, is it worth it to use high meta level device to become an invisible turtle, because they have pretty big penalty to speed?

Maybe you should consider buying one and flying it around and seeing how they work in high sec before you worry too much about taking it to low sec or 0.0.

It might not also be a bad idea to lose a few dozen rifters just to make sure your blood pressure doesn't spike so hard you have a stroke when you get shot at the first time in your covops.

Alright, I'll bite.

Cloaks come in three basic varieties: Prototype (requiring Cloaking 1), Improved`(Cloaking 3), and Covert Ops (Cloaking 4). All cloaks are constrained fitting-wise by CPU. No module may be activated while a cloak is active, though any module activated before the cloak will complete its cycle.

Prototype and Improved cloaks impose a velocity penalty when activated, a scan resolution penalty when fitted, and a sensor recalibration delay upon deactivation. Neither allows a ship to warp while cloaked. The penalties are all more severe on Prototype than Improved, but Prototype cloaks are also easier to fit.

Covert Ops cloaks require a specific bonus to fit. Covert Operations frigates, Stealth Bombers, Force Recons, Blockade Runners, and appropriately configured T3s are the only ships that can fit them. They impose the sensor recalibration delay, although it is only 10 seconds (except on Stealth Bombers, which have a role bonus negating sensor recalibration). Neither the velocity penalty nor the scan resolution penalty apply to them. They also allow ships to warp while cloaked.

So basically, if you're in a Covert Ops frigate, you'd better be fitting a Covert Ops cloak. There's no real point in springing for the storyline version. And that's the best you can do.

You should put that in the wiki on cloaks or something. A fine explanation like that shouldn't be forgotten in the dustbin of shiptoasting on these here forums.
