I have been having a hypothetical discussion about best ratting combo for countering standard hot drops and small red gangs.

The 3 options we have looked at. Again is is a pure hypothetical. Are.

1/ dual dead space fitted Paladins with cap boosters and bastion single xtype repairers 1180 dps real. (These chew sangha rats quicker than the standard 1400dps snake fits)

2/ dual thannies 2 remote and single cap repairer. 2k dps each with 10 fighters

3/ thanny and nasty full ecm Scorpion with 500dps and little tank to be repaired by thanny

The question is ..... What would it take to kill each combo. Think towards standard fleet/hotdrop

My vote is #3 would be the nastiest combo to come across.

Thoughts please guys

If people know how to hot drop, then nothing isn't going to save you (the only excetpion are goons, when they drop titans and mother ships to save ratting members).

My advice to you, insure you carrier, use cheapest modules and no implants.

Thanks for the response but it doesn't really answer the question

Okay. Here is an answer to your question:
Options 1 and 2 will be slow, fat, inviting targets that can be easily nuked with 15 to 20 Stealth Bombers (which won't care about your Fighters or your Maruader because Fighters and larger weapons have terrible damage application against Frigates operating at close range).
Option 3 is viable (simply jam the people pointing the carrier so the carrier can warp off)... but you are most definitely going to lose the Scorpion as a part of any escape plan. Provided your jams land perfectly.Blink

Honestly... you are better off shipping down and running a RR-battleship configuration.
That or you bring in friends in more PvP-centric ships to dissuade any would-be hotdropper (hint: yes, you "lose" some PvE income by splitting it with others, but you are also able to run PvE sites faster and more securely with others... giving you more income, faster in the long run)

Others! Others??

Are you mad? How can you suggest doing stuff with OTHERS?? in a MMO? This stuff is only for him, EVE is his and his alone.

Who cares about others...

Eve Minions is recruiting.

This is the law of ship progression!

Yes... I know. It's heresy to even consider such a thing. RollLol

It still would appear that I will be winning the corp debate

hotdrop would least likely go after Carrier + Scorp is that the consensus ?

Oh... no. The odds of people attacking you is more or less equal regardless of what setup you run (save for running in an actual group with other players).

The third setup simply offers the best odds of escaping (of the options you have presented to us).

What is that corp debate ? Best setup to stay in the anomaly while there are hostiles in the system ?

It's a bit like "best sneakers for running at night on a busy highway", I am not sure what valuable knowledge you can get out of this.

If you really want an answer, i guess the above post said it, but once again i feel like you are asking the wrong question. Everything will die, and cocky players staying in an anomaly while there are hostile people in the system, without a strong backup plan, are deemed to die horribly at some point.

Avoid Marauders though, they are the weakest option. Good luck by the way !
