I took a break from EVE for a while and I am just getting back. How are the new weapons in General? I can't really tell how they perform just from reading a few numbers so hearing the views of some people will help.

Is anything over powered? Is anything under powered?

Thank you

Projectile Turrets have been the creme'de'menth weapon of choice.

Autocannons have amazing falloffs, allowing ships like the hurricane to deliver good dps out to excellent ranges (30km), especially with barrage.

Artillary has an amzing alpha strike, often used in fleets to destroy ships before they could receive remote repair.

Laser have been the second weapon of choice, primarily due to Scorch.

Pulse lasers with Scorch have enourmous optimal ranges and excellent damage.

Beam Lasers Are decent for the right circumstances, but pulse lasers with scorch are more prevelant.

Blasters, until recently, were only viable on certain ships. Their range was very limiting, even with null. However, with the release of crucible patch, blasters got a significant buff, now taking fittings, using less cap, delivering more damage, and blaster hulls had a speed and agility boost. With the upcoming release of cruicible 1.2, null is having its stats adjusted to put it inline with Scorch/Barrage. This means they might become the new FOTM. It's too early to tell.

Railguns also got similar buffs in crucible too... and provide unprecedanted range, but have not become hugely popular due to their lack of alpha.

I forgot to mention missiles.... Which are kind of a different animal than turrets.

Light missiles are good against frigates.... especially in assault launcers, and especially precision missiles (when you have the target webbed and scrammed).

Rockets got a nice boost a while back, and no longer do completely fail dps. Ships like the heretic and flycatcher can be a serious threat to frigates now. They are range limited, and typically do less damage than turrets.

Heavy Missiles are very common. They provide consistant dps over a large range.

Heavy Assault Missiles are less common, and do good damage to targets of appropriate size. They have limited range, but output more damage than regular old Heavy Missiles. Some people believe HAM fits are balls-to-the-wall amazing, other's vehemently disagree.

Cruise Missile are typically found on PvE vessels rather than PvP vessels, but not always. Cruise Missiles have excellent range, but do pisspoor damage to small ships.

Torps do excellent alpha.... to big targets... They are moderately range limited, and no longer do AOE damage (this was changed a very long time ago).
