So I returned to EvE after my longest break ever, and things have change a lot since then. I have a simply question; How do I make wrecks/cons/whatever visible in space?

Currently I can only seem them when I select them in my overview. This leaves finding and sorting containers in exploration sites an impossible task. Thanks in advance.

Easiest method: click on the 4 lines on the top left of your overview and click "Show all brackets"

Advanced method:
- Go to overview settings from the same menu.
- Go to the tab "Overview tabs"
- Change the bracket preset of your current tab to a preset which includes containers (if you see them on the overview then the same one you are using will be sufficient).

Yup, the icons in space are called "brackets". So you can open the Overview settings and enable / disable brackets for the tabs that you want; there are a few settings, and also a key you can press (Alt I believe) to show them all temporarily.
