Vmware Fusion 8 + Windows 10

I wanted to post this here to save someone some money in case they thought about going this route. I've had many full-machine crashes with the current Eve Mac client and wanted to try to isolate the game onto a VM to protect the rest of the system.

I have had really good success with VMware Fusion 6 + Windows XP in the past, but my experiment with Fusion 6 + Windows 10 + Eve and also Fusion 8 + Windows 10 + Eve has not been great. Essentially the performance in-station makes it unplayable (it isn't bad in space, but still not great). Scrolling through inventories of items is almost impossible and the industry screen lags very badly.

I did try WIS (which didn't work before) and it still doesn't work -- so no change there except before you could walk around but most of the lights were out. Now it doesn't do anything (you can't walk at all).

I have tried using both DirectX8 and 10. And I've also allocated a ton of memory both to the OS and to the graphics card. Both helped but at 12GB of system RAM and 2GB of video RAM it was still horrible.

I am going to try all of this on Windows 7 next to see if it makes a difference. As I said this used to work great with XP and Fusion 6.

Right now it doesn't look like Eve works inside a hypervisor anymore. If anybody has gotten this to work successfully I would love to hear from them.

Thanks,

Thanks for the heads-up. Was contemplating trying this. Will give it a miss.

Please CCP! Give Mac users some love! We pay the same as Windows users, why are we getting a crappy experience?
