Black Screen after login, unable to select character and play

The Eve Launcher opens, all of my accounts are listed, when I select one to play it only makes it to character selection screen maybe 1 time out of 10.

I just started back to the game a week ago and this has been a constant problem, the game is seemingly unplayable for Mac players at the moment. Not the experience I was hoping for when I re-subbed my accounts.

Ditto. I have found the likelihood of reaching the login screen goes up when I keep the window in the foreground.

Character selection screen coming all black up now in the Beta-launcher after a crash, so ... +1 Sad

Same here. It did occasionally happen prior to the patch but now I cannot login to any character.

You might be having issues but I haven't had any problems - for the most part - and when I did I did this >

1: You can only launch one client at a time - if you use the multi launch option, change the time between client launch to like 60+. When you try to launch more than one at a time, something hangs when they try to access the same info. If you try to figure out how long one client takes to launch and get to the character screen - add about 10-15 seconds above that. Should fix that issue.

2: do a clear cache.

Just so you guys know, I was troubleshooting my friends Mac.

Closed and reopened - nothing
Launch through DX 9 - nothing
Launch while bipassing launcher - nothing

However, I went to clear cache on the client from the DX 9 test and while it was un responsive I clicked esc multiple times and the charactor selection screen came up!

So to summarize, got to black screen, spammed esc, and got the selection screen.

Glad to see this is still a problem. /s Just had to fix it myself; looked up a post I made like four years ago on how to do it:

1: Close Eve.

If your user Library (/Users/yourname/Library) is already visible, skip to step 7. Otherwise:

2: Go to your "Finder" and then to the "Utilities" file.

3: Open the "Terminal.app"

4: Type in "defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES"and hit "ENTER" (This makes most files un-hidden.)

5: Type in "chflags no hidden ~/Library/" and hit "Enter" This will un-hide the "hidden Library"

6: Hold "Control" and right click "Finder" then click "Launch" or "Re-Launch" Finder will reopen with the hidden files showing. (If at first you don't see the now un-hidden Library look closely, it might be covered/stacked with another file. Just drag one away.)

-skip to here if your library is already visible-

7: Go to - Users/username/Library/Application Support/EVE Online/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/settings_PROFILENAME/

It's not a bad idea to drag the EVE Online folder into the sidebar on the left; this allows you to easily access it without having to make the Library visible. Your screenshots are also buried in this folder.

8: Delete all and any of the following files:

core_char__.dat
core_public__.dat
core_public__.yaml
core_user__.dat

9: Restart Eve

It will reset a few minor graphical settings, but it's no big deal. After you've rebooted and sorted it all out, close EVE and DUPLICATE THE PROFILE in the new launcher. This way, if and when it happens again, you can just use the duplicate and delete the corrupted one.
