"This week in EVE" is a weekly overview of EVE Online related news and events and shows what is going on in EVE Online. The focus of this overview is on official news from CCP: For example, dev blogs and important forum posts by CCP developers, the ever evolving background story and upcoming events. The previous weekly overview can be found here.

The current "This week in EVE" gives an overview of the previous two weeks from February 13th to February 26th

Dev blogs and announcements
The EVE Online API Challenge - Feedback
The support of third-party developers continues with a brand new EVE Online API challenge: Create a piece of software over the course of 3 weeks that primarily focuses on use of the CREST API! Please also check out the existing documentation. The use of existing libraries is allowed. But why only 3 weeks? Try to think outside the box, don't aim for a polished final app, and instead focus on a proof of concept. Please note that creating 3rd party apps via CREST is not a client modification nor will you have to suffer negative consequences using that data.

Overlays, ISK Buyer Amnesty and Account Security - Feedback
Team Security brings clarification on our rules and policies regarding overlays and other third party applications in this latest dev blog. Additionally an Amnesty for ISK Buyers has been announced if you provide information about the ISK seller. We also want to remind you to take your account security serious: use two factor authentication, strong passwords and do not share account login data!

EVE London! - Saturday February 27th!
The longest running EVE Player gathering still on the calendar, EVE London, plays host to veterans and new players alike in the traditional pub meet "Goodman's Field Wetherspoons" in central London. Don't miss this meet on February 27th! More info can be found on the forum and on Facebook.

Early & Extended Downtime – 2016/02/29 – 09:00 – 14:00 UTC
An extended downtime will take place on Monday, February 29th 2016, in order to perform significant hardware and database configuration changes to the Tranquility cluster. This downtime will involve complex work on the underpinnings that power New Eden, and as such we’d like to take the cluster down for a significant amount of time, totaling five hours of downtime. This downtime will help prepare for Tranquility Tech III!

EVElopedia Shutdown - 2016/02/29 - 09:00
EVElopedia, the official EVE Wiki, will be discontinued as of Monday February 29th, 2016. An archive of player created articles is available here. Prime fiction and official backstory reference material will be relocated to a new home over the course of the next couple of months and will be continued.

Sleeper Social Club CEO Declares Alliance Closure
The Social Sleeper Club (SSC) alliance, one of the oldest wormhole space entities and among the top ranking PVP groups in w-space, is - after years of successful campaigns and events - closing down according to their CEO Biterno Sintaph. The alliance will be put into "retirement" mode. More info about SSC can be found on the SSC website and Dotlan. SSC will be remembered for their intense and quite crazy battles in wormhole space (screenshot)!

Drifter Incursion into the Khanid Kingdom
The Drifter threat has been ever increasing, with a significant incursion in the constellation of Homroon. The Amarr Navy have suffered unprecedented losses in this conflict and were clearly unable to defend themselves against the increasing Drifter threat. Eyewitness Makoto Priano commented "The Drifters are out here in force. ... There are still anywhere from four to twelve Drifters in a place, which may mean as many as several hundred in the five systems currently under attack." Despite the apparent threat the Drifters pose, not every Capsuleer in the system took a hostile stance against them....

March release on March 8
Updates regarding Project Discovery
CCP Paradox comes with news about Project Discovery, the Citizen Science project in EVE Online. The UI has been improved, new classification categories have been added, Analysis Kredits revamped, and more! Please check it out and give us your feedback!

Features on Singularity
Some features for the March release are available for Singularity for testing. So far available for testing (not necessarily feature complete) are Project Discovery and preparations for the Citadel expansion.

Testing and test server
Test servers are primarily for testing things
Please understand that since our test servers are first and foremost for testing, we will apply database mirrors as it fits our needs of development and QA.

A new mirror for Singularity
As you remember, we provide a nice reward of 2 million skillpoints on the test server for those who attend our mass tests. However, when we copy over the Singularity database with the latest data from Tranquility ("Mirror"), then those skillpoint rewards are lost and need to be re-applied. Good news! Skill point rewards from previous mass test participations have been re-applied.

What is a database mirror
You see the term "mirror" when you are browsing the test server forum, but what is that? A database mirror, short mirror, is a copy of the Tranquility database applied to the test server after a few changes have been added. Changes include removal of sensitive information such as removal of POS locations, moon mineral content, and market seeding with cheap items and so on.

Issues and Workaround
Mission sites no longer working after daily downtime?
If you suffer from mission sites no longer working after a daily downtime, then please post in CCP Paradox' feedback thread with further info. Be aware though that this is for mission sites only, not Signatures or Anomalies.

Please do report bugs!
What can you do if you can encounter a bug in using the in-game bug reporting tool? Please hit F12 and use the "Report Bug" button. Reporting a bug from in-game will give us valuable information about your system that can help us reproduce the issue if possible.

D-Scan has been fixed
After initial issues with the directional scanner, those issues have been fixed. As well, the fade animation is to be removed.

Various
Official Video/Streaming Toolkit
CCP Manifest comes with an update about the video/streaming toolkit. There has been good progress, but there are still a few things left to be done. Stay tuned for further updates!

No dev response in feedback threads?
If you don't see a dev response in a feedback thread, then this only means that the developer had no time to reply so far. Feedback is read diligently, but not always a response can be made.
