I recently started a couple jobs. How will this downtime affect those?

F*ck it, I'm watching Serenity while I wait for this to come back online. I'm not impressed about losing my skill training time while this server is down. Twice now this week we've lost skill training points because of server's extended downtime. I'm not happy about it but I see little point in aiming blame at anyone.

EVE is an only MMORPG I play, so I cant compare reliability with any others, but its seems like lately daily DT are often extended due to errors(at least 4 in 2015), wendsday DT meant to be 2hrs end up being nearly 4 and now this, at one of the busiest time.
Correct me if I,m wrong but it isn't service one could expect from professional company.
And dont get me started on infrequent and vague updates, might as well write "Still ******, move along"
would like to remind CCP that we pay a subscription here, something they might have forgotten....

Yes, there does seem to be an increase in the amount of down times due to server issues lately. The problem is is that we want all these little gizmos and gadgets in the game (cloak timers and visual enhancements) to spice things up. The catch is the more bling you add to the game only means more code that could go wrong and interact badly with other features. So we are hosed either way.

We either accept Eve as it is and quit asking the Devs for new content or we learn to deal with the down times that come from coding issues that may have come about due to those blingy updates we love so much.

Totally angry, but since EVE generate great profit for CCP, how about investing in some more quality ppl who will meet our demands. Surely it's a win win

Thanks for this. The most important thing posted in 133 posts (haven't read the rest yet - smile).

Of course, folks don't like their game being interrupted, but such is reality. I do agree with those who are saying such things as "being in the midst of a mission, can I have my timer started at the point of the DT." and with the statement about having done hours for PLEX for subbing the account - and probably not the only player so impacted.

For the non-techies -- there is so much behind the scenes that has to go on - and it's not always smooth sailing - and it never will be.

This downtime has nothing to do with "new bling." To announcement cited "a potential database issue," which has nothing to do with cloak timers and visual enhancements and things like that.

I agree. Crap happens. At least they are letting us know that it is down, and WHY.

It is a Friday night and I think that the people working on the database problem would probably like to be at home.

I work in IT, I know what it is like to be called in, or stay late after hours, or get called back into work.

Just my 2 Plex's :)
