Have you ever been in a fight with a much larger target, you have him pointed, and he is dying, and is going to make a great addition to your kill mail collection? Then, while he is 3/4 way through armor after you have been beating him to death for the past 10 mins, he decides to self destruct, just so he wouldnt generate a kill mail? That guy just robbed you of that well earned kill using an exploit in the system to do so.

My sugestion is simple, and should be super easy to implement.

1) Once you are actively targeted by another player, if you self destruct, the person who laid the last shot against you would get the kill mail.

2) The kill mail would specify that you did self destruct, so credit is given where credit is due

Easy Peasy....

What is so 'I win' about self destruct?

Last time I checked a Kill mail never won the war.

butthurt Oops

At least 1 new one every week for the last 2 months, keep it up guys. The whine is strong and soon you will drive them over to the Rage side.

As for SD

1. Its 2 minutes. Raise your hand if you didn't know that. *looks at OP standing there with a "What?" look on their face*

2. Its not like its going away. You didn't earn it, it didn't escape, and its gone from the game. Thats all you should be proud of.

3. This post and every other one like it is the exact reason they finger the SD option to get to you to go off and provoke a reaction (gamer nerd rage, youtube it). You don't like that they can do it and they know it just makes you get angry, just as much as...lets think....Gang banging hulks for 2 weeks twice a year (quite sure miners don't like it that much but the guys doing it just love to do it).

so chear up bucko, you got punked and reacted just like they knew you would. Its not an exploit, because SD has but one reason to exist in game and that is to **** you off by denying you that precious KM (its not logoffski, which the reason was to run away and fight another day like the Gallente French strategy. SD ships don't come back Shocked)

You guys are completely misinterpeting the nature of my post Im not whining, either that or the trolls are out.

This is a place for improvements to the game is it not? And, based on the number of posts concerning this issue, it is a valid area of improvement. Im not 'butthurt', but it is, imho, something that needs to be fixed. A kill is a kill either way you look at it, true, but the system could use improving.

The ONLY reason I can think of for the reaction that im getting, is that you guys must be some of the very guys out there mashing the self destruct button so that YOU are not butthurt.

My 2 cents, have a good one.

So? It's still dead, and no amount of creative petitioning will bring it back. And he can't even hope to get something back from it that you couldn't haul off in your little ship.

Shouldn't the fact that you caused someone to self destruct their ship be enough? Do you really need that KM? You want proof of your kill, well did you deserve it? It takes 2 minutes for the SD to complete and if you didnt bring enough dps to kill it in time...

YOU DO NOT DESERVE THE KILLMAIL.

He could have ejected, could have called in for back up, but maybe he tried and couldn't get a response. What do you do then? Watch him kill you slowly? lol only an idiot would do that. Self destruct the ship and laugh as you whine about it in local.

"Oh you're a pussy for SDing"

Its a final recourse for heavy ships to get you back some way. The fact you are posting this on the forums (whining, tear production) guys you killed like this see your post and get the bucket out becuase you are crying, and they love your tears.

TL; DR never stop crying

Feligast, Im really not whining, re read the title to my post, there isnt a bit of whine, or butthurt in there. I just see it as an area of opportunity for CCP to fix. Not something for everyone to get all their panties in a bunch about.

A kill is a kll is a kill, period. I didnt laugh any less when 45 frigs pinned down and made 5 carriers SD. So please dont misunderstand my intentions here. But, if thats the case, and a killmail is something none of us really care about, then another suggestion is, hey, lets just get rid of the killboards all together since it dosent seem to matter either way right? All I did was suggest something that I think would make the game better.

Wait a second, so...let me get this straight...Your going to SD your 10x more expensive ship to get tears from me...because I caused you to SD? That dosent even make sense...At least I dont get how it makes sense. If thats the case, all Im fitting from now on is a web and scram, and a civvie lazor to pin down targets till they SD for the tears. My fits would be a LOT cheaper, thanks for the tip! Im done here, this is just getting stupid.

Self destruct is just a friendly way of saving the attacker's ammo . Why do people react so negatively :(

Holy crap. Dubious content and hilarious title .. best SD whine so far Smile

If I am sitting in a ship that you have been trying to chew through for ten minutes and still haven't gotten to the hull I'd SD as well .. why the hell should I volunteer a total of 16-20minutes of my time just because you can't be arsed to bring an appropriate ship, hell I'd probably SD a lot sooner if I knew I was on my lonesome.

By all means, generate a mail for API verification so you can get your precious self-esteem tended to without having to pay a shrink, but leave it blank .. only content should be location/time, ship type and final blow .. rest must be assumed destroyed in an explosion that is meant to destroy everything of value.

I support this thread - and i don't see the OP as whining, he's merely pointing out the fact that the SD game mechanic is flawed.

This thread is about improvements, and I don't think SD should be removed.

KM's should be generated if someone SD's during combat...

The idea of a killmail/lossmail is to show that one has killed/lost a ship.

The self destruct button is used to negate this and therefore should be looked at.

SD should also drop loot

I respectfully disagree. The same people who get frothy on their keyboards about self destructing tend to be the same people who love grabbing solo players in 20 man fleets, then boast about the "leet tears" they got afterwards. Then generate their own tears in regard to being denied a "juicy killmail".

Seems balanced to me. You can't have it both ways.

Self destruct is in common culture often used to deny the enemy valuable resources, ships bases etc. Since there is no way to capture ships in eve, denying a kill mail is the only real use for self destruct, it should be kept.

Collecting heads on spikes is all well and good and more power to the headhunters, but there should always be a way to grief a player activity (that is what Eves all about) including collecting heads on spikes. Keep it.

However, that being said. There should be a loot drop from self destructed ships. Like I said, you can't have it both ways.

I have spent the last hour reading threads on this issue and now am of the view that SD should not drop loot - not pay insurance - but produce a KM.

It discourages small gang pvp and encourages blobs. I sir, would love to look back on the km i was denied when taking 2 machs vs a carrier caught in a mission. We needed 5 mins to kill him, unfortunately we ran out of time.

Yes, this is my first thread ever on the eve forums, and I think this is where the Trolls make their homes, lol.

Im not against SD, I think we need SD, as said in a prev post, it saves us ammo. Not so much on the shrink bills, if you need a shrink from internet spaceships, your pretty f'd up to begin with. Go outside and ride a bike or something.

On the issue of KM vs drop loot, Id say, no loot, issue the mail. Heres why, dropping loot dosent really fix anything, and goes against the nature of why you would realisticaly intentionally destroy something. If I press a SD button, Im doing it with the intention of destroying everything. It is an engineered process meant for that purpose. However, the ship is dead, for nefarious reasons, and should generate a KM.
