mining is the activity what you should be able to do afk i suppose, something like fishing where 98% of your brain can idle or to something else. On the other hand it shouldn't be easy to automate, massively, to create resources out of nothing without playing the game.

By taking a few mechanics from PI, it would not only make mining a little bit more interesting (for the few seconds you have to play the game between doing something else), it would make it also far more difficult to automate.

idea:
miner starts mining by locking the object and activating the modules (nothing changed here)
asteroid zooms into PI mode and you have to place extraction areas on the bright spots and press start mining
thats it, step 2 should not take longer than 10s, mining proceeds until the asteroid is away i suppose
(obviously if you place the extraction areas wrong you will mine very inefficient)

still the same as before but a bit more interesting and harder to automate. No time wasted, you can still do it afk..


disclaimer: I am no miner, i mined probably one or two hours in my eve career so far (but it was a larger corp-wide op at least).

well. it doesn't have to be full screen as in PI. A resizeable window would be fine.

since you are mining afk most of the time you can't do much about people locking you anyway
