Something Wrong with Mackinaw Targeting range?

As a miner, I'm usually out in the ships mining the roids,

I bought a new mackinaw recently (after the last one got ganked!) and the max targeting range seems to be extremely low.

Even though the info attributes state the max targeting range is 30km, once I make the ship active I get 10.18km (long range targeting at lvl.4).

I saw nothing in the latest patch to suggest this has changed.... Is this a mistake? Question

My guess is that you have fitted warp core stabs and haven't read the attributes as the range you are getting is right for two or three stabs depending on your skills. Not only do stabs decrease your lock range, but they increase your lock time.

In a mining barge, they will not save you from ganks in HS - only tank, paying attention and flying smart will.

Tank only comes into play if you don't spot the trouble and leave before it arrives. That system you're mining in is a bad place for a Mackinaw.
