Locator implants may ping cloaked targets on D-scan.
-Ping range resolution based on research level of corpse.

*Possible Warp to ranges with Corpse Research levels:
Level 1: N/A
Level 2: N/A
Level 3: 10,000,000 km (~0.1 AU)
Level 4: 75,000,000 km (~0.5 AU)
Level 5: 150,000,000 km (~1 AU)

*Note: Locator implant only pings X player if you use X player's corpse to make locator implant.

Stages of Ping:
1.) Ping shows X player's solar system position on star map if not in system or d-scan range.
2.) If in system and necessary D-Scan range (0.1 to 1 AU depending on research level of corpse prior to implant creation), player's ship will be highlighted in space and D-Scan. Player can warp to ship.
-With full corpse research (level 5), a locator implant can only be pinged every 2 minutes.

D-Scan warp-to from a locator implant can be used in any number of ways from seeking war targets that cloak up on a gate, hunting in wormhole space, warping to target's undock bookmarks during station games.

The major balancing factors to this power is you need that player's corpse and have a limited time window to operate within.

A monetization idea:
CCP can sell a dossier (Low AUR price) that let's you know how many off your corpses are in the the possession of 'other' players. (Does not disclose who has your corpse).

I could go for this. It provides an extra incentive for participation in Project Discovery and the pay off doesn't feel any different than having current locator agents. Seems a little convoluted to tie into the SoE though. Maybe bring in a different faction?

In any event, +1

Asking because that is the whole point of Project Discovery in the first place...

Project Discovery is currently helping identify dyed proteins for the Human Atlas Project.. Project Discovery tasks are correctly identified faster through leveraging power of the crowds.

I know that. That is what I said. I am asking YOU how this thing you're proposing to help towards that.

Rewards from the Sisters of Eve are nice and will encourage participation (sure better bang for your buck than ship spinning). However, adding an additional option for engagement to Project Discovery with corpse research feels like a way to get even more players to opt into completing tasks on a daily basis.

Temporary Locator Implants would be very powerful tools and corpse research through Project Discovery is the foundation for that power.

It's an intriguing idea except it all sounds very complicated and as a cloaky wanderer, I'd never be in favor of any feature that allowed a cloaked ship to be warped to by a player ship.

Couple of other things:

-- Not gonna comment on all the fiddly game design details you listed (that's what game designers get paid to work out) except to observe that players will exploit the crap out of anything they can. Even with your ping limitation, I can imagine a group of users with identical implants based on corpses of the same player orchestrating their pings and fleet movement to pinpoint that player's cloaked ship in super quick time.
-- Tying in to a potentially temporary feature (because it's coordinated with an external research project that could lose its funding and go away) might not be advisable.
-- SOE might be a little spooky in their suspected behind-the-scenes behavior and may not care for capsuleers because of our wanton disregard for life from the lofty ivory tower of our own immortality, but I don't know if they are creepy enough to want to engage in corpse collection, processing, and distillation into the kind of implants you are describing.

Lost in space, looking for sigs...

Locator implants discussed below have great potential to be used by bounty hunters and players under wardec--for finding war targets or evading them. Locators are constructed from a corpse and may only locate the player whose corpse was used/researched. The 2 day temporary implants use hard-wiring slots 6 through 10. This means 5 players may be tracked simultaneously--at the expense of being unable to use those hard-wiring slots for other implants until 2 days elapse or pod is destroyed. Frequency of locator ping is determined by level of corpse research; see below.

example use: Stockpile corpses from members of Marmite Collective, research corpses, and sell locator implants to wardec'd corps.

Hmm I wonder, which part of NO is difficult for you?

It's a good point, but I don't see them totally scrapping the feature in the event Human Atlas Project shuts down or moves over to a different task. CCP may be able to hold several million slides in a database. To stymie players from botting those 'known' slides, CCP just randomizes the category buttons (ofc CCP will have to make it easier to read those buttons without the pop up image getting in the way).

Reciprocal watchlist changes are on their way. I agree, this is an excellent time to look at making updates to the locator agent intel system.

The need for having multiple alts in stations to make use of locator agents (and grinding the standing necessary for good locator agents) is a really clunky and prohibitive system. Adding the corpse mechanic for temporary personal locator implants in addition to locator agents in stations seems like a more well rounded approach to location intel.

Player pointed out an interesting dilemma for super pilots under this locator implant mechanic system.

Imagine this, corpses can be used as a locator agent. This gives significant weight towards capital pilots who haven't died. In the new era of skill injectors, in order to keep OpSec, all the big alliances have to dump billions of ISK into making new characters and injecting capital skills every time one dies. This causes the skill extractor market to boom.

Add with this a corpse collector frigate which has a tractor beam range/velocity bonus and the ability to detect corpses with corpse scan probes.
