So last night i decided to reinstall the Sisi test server client as i've not played on Sisi for a while.

I go to the Eve-O homepage and download the Sisi Installer, which takes just a few seconds.
Start the installer and get a popup message warning that this is a test server client and not to install it over my main client.

I click ok expecting the installer to ask me where i would like to install it, but instead it starts downloading the game data 4.65GB worth. I think ok this is gonna take an hour or 2 and decide to go to bed (as its late) and i'll finish it in the morning.

I get up the next day to find that the installer has finished the download and auto installed itself..... you guessed it..... right over my main Eve client.... Thats just f****ing great i mumble to myself, I've now got to re download the main client.... This time nearly 5 GB's worth.

So i download the installer for the main Eve client and this time it gives me a choice of 2 locations to install it to. Default or Custom.

I choose default and get a pop up saying You Cannot Install over an existing installation. please choose a different location.
I think to myself your having a laugh..... before deleting the Sisi client and reinstalling the Main client.

So now i'm back to square one facing another 4.65GB download of the Sisi client.

Had i thought about it i could have installed the main client to a different locatation and been done.

But such is lifeBig smile

Why didn't you just copy the EVE folder to another location and patch that with the TQ to SiSi patch? I don't get why you're trying to download the whole client once again when you already have one installed.

Copy the EVE TQ installation to a folder named EVE - Sisi, and let the SiSiLauncher apply the patch for it.

It will download much less that 4GB.

poor excuse for a boneheaded distribution package

well i think the SiSI Launcher is quite obvious in the way .. where you want to put it .. It cant be done any better. Nor it needs to.

Thats how i always did it in the past and will do so again from here on.
Just thought i restart with a fresh clean installOops

The Sis Launchers takes longer to patch the client than it does for me to download the full clientTwisted at least it did when i last used it, which is probably more than a year ago.

For those of you who don't seem to get what he's saying: why would you have the main installer tell you it won't install over a previous install, but the SiSi one doesn't? Why doesn't it just setup a new folder automatically? That is pretty stupid, and I don't often say that on the forums.

you could argue that someone who fails installing the test client will also fail to provide a bug report or valuable feedback in case something wents wrong while testing.

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

My apologies. Above suggestions for copying clients and patching are good. You can also copy and rename the SISI folder and repair client back to TQ. This is especially useful after a big patch. In fact usually you can copy SISI and change path extension on the shortcut to go to direct to TQ and save all that patching nonsense Big smile

Or just download sisilauncher.exe and it automagically makes everything work. But yeah, it should be damned hard to find a standalone sisi installation file, or a sisi patch file, but should be ridiculously easy to get sisilauncher.exe. Instead the smart way to do it (sisilauncher) you have to know about in advance so you can deliberately search for it. I blame the webteam. webteam is worst team.

I don't remember if the installation created the appropriate EVE/SISI folder or if the directions had me do it manually.
