+1, and it would be a godsend anywhere, not just PI. Not sure why even CCP of all developers is so absolutely hellbent on desperately trying to prove to the rest of the world that beauty trumps function and practicality; why waste the time to fix it or even keep it in good working order when we can **** it up a little and make it look pretty?

"Tomahawks?"

I've just come back to the game after some time away and I really miss this functionality.

I can't take this anymore. Too many bad changes to things that already work just fine. Taking some time off to play Dark Souls 2 or whatever...

CCP, please stop fixing things that aren't broken!

The workaround seems to be shift+tab+ctrl or sth weird like that. Looked it up earlier in the shortkey menu and found something. It doesn´t work properly but it seems to be only way to make the UI disappear at the moment. Ugh

This looks to me like it's unintended. If you click on another tab and click back the text that was there is redrawn.

I've passed this issue along to the UI team.

Thanks Darwin.

Can we confirm if this Tab function was removed as a required change or overall the behaviour we are missing is an unintended change that can be restored?

Yea switching tabs fixes the issue but I have between 4 and 6 tab groups depending on a client. Not exactly convenient to have to cycle them all every time we hide the windows.

If it's fixed it will be better but tab was still superior function as you could still see number of people in local while doing PI. Something that is kinda useful.

Seriously? 0_o
For a lot of people that was actually a useful feature... Can it still be bound to something or is the roll up just completely gone?

Q: What as the ratio of people confused vs. those users who found it useful functionality?

Couldn't you have put in some kinda prompt (I hear that new opportunity system is good for giving feedback) like a pop up regardless of aura's state for notifications in game?
The pop up box could activate the first time or persist until someone clicks on an acknowledgement they've read/understand the text when someone accidentially clicked tab twice. Just needs to give basics to say what happened, why and how to restore..

Pretty sure once someone sees the prompt (unless this just X out of everything instantly) will understand and move on.

Hell, future idea.... make one of those new flight academy videos have a pro-tip UI type of video just going over some little nice features that players might not know about? *purely spit-balling here* Go over useful UI tweaks so new bros understand some of the complexity of the UI, what it can do and how it can be tweaked to make the eve experience better, rather then killing something we use cause a few people accidentally mis-clicked tab and complained? I can't ever recall seeing someone post about a problem with the function... so why remove it?

Q: Was this even a discussed change in a patch note, forum thread (aside from the one opened after the change) or other? I don't follow every CCP twitter account (let alone actively monitor twitter daily) so maybe I missed it, but in reality first time i knew there something amiss was when I came here after looking for an explanation as to where the function went.

It was nice to be able to quickly roll down everything to get a full view of whats going on and returning it normal state. You've had that feature for as long as (and probably longer) then I've been playing.. it was removed with out any real notification. Pretty sure I didn't see it in a patch note but I could be mistaken.

EDIT: Expanding my thoughts under the Camera thread even though it seems silly to post it there IMO unless a better option is available to get team psycho sisters attention.

Honestly... Leave the functionality and rebind to something obscure. It was useful.

Why do you keep dumbing down this game ?

The key was fine for years - and damn useful at that (and de-facto unused for anything else).

Now some dumbass(es) start complaining (? seriously ?) and you got into panic-remove mode ?

Get it back working as it used for years, please (and stop listening to every poor confused soul that cries to support) ?

Or add an option to simply bind this function to some key.

This! It's a very useful function and having it as Tab makes it easy to activate so it was well mapped to begin with.

In any case, why remove a very useful function and replace it with an inferior one (that doesn't even work properly but hopefully that will get fixed one day) instead of just changing default mapping to cater to console aficionados and let us simply remap it to what we feel like?

Completely agree.

This issue would be solved by simply adding the functionality to the shortcuts menu.

You have got to be kidding, right? That is not how feedback works. Only because some people report is as bad doesn't mean that many people do NOT say anything about it since they think it is good.
Instead, your choice of action should have been testing how much people use it and if it has valid reasons before you jump to conclusions.

You are removing a FEATURE that is useful once LEARNED. Instead you cater to the lowest common denominator of "Monkey don't know, monkey don't push?"

You advertise your game as a sandbox. How many tools do you want to keep taking away from us and force us to build only one type of thing with one type of sand until you don't have anyone left to get reasonably creative?

The functionality was totally fine. Anyone who doesn't want it it on the tab key, should be allowed to change that keybind. And not removing the entire function.

Honestly, where did that even come up? I can't remember anyone saying in corp chat (NPC starter corporation, so we got MANY questions incoming) that they accidentally killed all their windows.

I get the feeling this would have been something mentioned in a focus group or maybe in new player testing?

Either way it wasn't discussed to the player base at all or mentioned in a devblog/patch note as far as I have seen.

CCP Please restore this function.

Thankyou CCP for changing the TAB key to the expected behaviour, instead of the crazy window thing. I can say honestly that I have NEVER ONCE INTENTIONALLY USED THE TAB KEY FOR THE CRAZY WINDOW THING.

However I do agree with the majority of the thread, don't take the crazy window thing away, allow it to be remapped.
