EVE Launcher - Feedback and issues

After much deliberation I decided to swing my Main PC to the New Launcher and treat myself to a Clean install of Eve Online. (deleted all traces of the game from all hard drives.)

For all of yesterday and this morning I was fine and happy with the changes.

....But now the launcher will not even load Double Click and nothing.

Anyone else had similar ? I tried running maintenancetool.exe and it kindly said its corrupt please re-install from Scratch... which I did only 26 hours ago.

I'm doing a clean install again... and will see how long it lasts.

I really don't understand why CCP can't get their stuff together over updates. I just had to reinstall again since it would hang on trying to update the launcher. It would count down and then count into the negatives and never relaunch. I have a great internet connection so that's not it.

The programmers responsible should be embarrassed. I'm a dev and I would be ashamed.

I love the multi-account launcher. I used it through it's beta. It's not in beta anymore. Fix it or find someone who can.

Please file a bug report, attaching the logs from %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\Launcher, as well as updatelog.txt from your shared cache location. I am sure that as a fellow developer you share the frustration of dealing with bugs that only occur out in the field, where you have to rely on the kindness of your users to help you fill in the details of the issue at hand.

If you mention my name in the bug report title I'll be sure to find the report and give it the priority it deserves.

Please make sure that you were not running the development version - it is expected that it may break from time to time, and there was no update to the release version today (only the dev version).

I just installed the new launcher and the game no longer has my windowed resolution setting of 1600x900 as a choice. Is this a bug or by design?

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

I have multiple accounts and run them on separat screens. Main account in fullscreen, second/scout account in windowed mode. Every time i restart the launcher i have to assign the profiles anew... which is kind of an inconvenience/annoyance.

Would it be possible for the new launcher to remember the profile i use for each account? I don't want to use the "remember me (insecure)" option.

Very impressed with the new launcher. I had no problems switching over.

Suggestion/request: Would it be possible to display a list of character names next to the account names? Or make it a setting to either show account name or list of character names? Right now I just use postit notes stuck onto the side of my monitor to tell me which characters are in each account.

EDIT: Even just allowing me to type in a "display name" for the account would work. I could type in a concatenation of the character names as a display name for the account.

Run them in "Full Screen Window Mode".
I do it with 6 accounts on (3) different sized monitors and have no problems.

I have exactly ZERO issues with the launcher, and have only had 1 or 2 hiccups in it since it's first release, one of those hiccups was me not knowing how to get my settings into the new launcher...

The issue i have at the moment is that the advertisements at the bottom have doubled in size and now I have to expand the launcher window to see the account list without having to scroll.

looking to find a way to shrink them back to what they were yesterday, but can't find a setting for it.


Other than that, the new launcher has made things so much easier for me, and I have constantly told my friends that they should also use it because it is better than the old launcher in so many ways.

Oh my god never run the uninstaller for the old launcher despite what http://cdn1.eveonline.com/community/misc/EveLauncherSettingsMigration.mp4 says. It deletes your settings and resource cache even if you ask it not to.

EDIT: Okay, more accurately it makes the launcher forget where the resource cache is installed, which in turn changes the directory it uses for settings.

Auto play should come next week.

Can "Hide Recent News" come with it?

Having the launcher take up half my screen just so I can see my accounts is a bit of wasted space.

NB; the popup news was far more elegant ..

Maybe an option to show news when there is actually something new.
For example - Help Upwell consortium - Who cares it is over.
Mass test on January 28 - Is just so relevant to February 22.

Latest News really should be things that are current, not stuff that happened over a month ago.


If you can't come up with something relevant, try linking to the 10 most expensive losses from Zkill or something about plex and Aurum prices.. You know, something that might interest players

I can't log my alts into singularity, TQ works fine, and this account works fine in both TQ ans Sisi, I get as far as the License Agreement Update, click accept and nothing happens.

I'm using Windows 7. I have tried searching for that exact path, it comes up with nothing. Trawling through the EVE folder leave to many potential things and I'm literally not seeing the trees for the forest. Thus why I'm asking what exact local folder it is.

I've gone to places like E:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE - FS\launcher\appdata\EVE_Online_Launcher-2.2.999545.win32 (full-screen version of EVE, the other is the Window-Mode version for multi-boxing) and looked, but what exactly is the file named? Is it in esky-files, is it the defalt-settings.yami file, the localization.xml, what?

If it's in E:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE - FS\launcher directly and not the appdata folder then is it the debug.log? Is it in the E:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE - FS\launcher\cache folder? There is a lot of launcher logs here, like launcher.2016-02-22.log Is this what you need?

Until I get a reply I will assume this is it and see if I can get this to you.
