EVE Launcher

I spend most of my time playing eve in a remote location tethered via my smartphone, I take my time shutting down all sorts of background activities on my computer to avoid automatic downloads and updates.

Would it be possible to allow me to opt out of the news feed in the launcher? I run my updates over wi-fi and then relocate the rest of my day to play eve which typically does not use much bandwidth, however, with news images being loaded and cycled by the launcher I'm noticing a bit more data being used, and since I'm switching characters a lot I'd like to leave the launcher running in the background, but not if it's going to be loading and displaying images that whole time and each time I run it again.

I know the little bandwidth it uses is probably not a big issue for the general of eve, but I still think the launcher is getting a bit crowded and I think there are a few of us that would like to be able to customize it's appearance and reduce the clutter, or in my case, the data usage.
