Make solo PVP actually profitable

I hope I am posting this idea in the right place as I haven't really done this before and I don't know if anyone has thought of this before so if I am treading on anyone's toes you have my apologies.

Reward solo pvp pilots for their effort and time by creating a direct relationship between the loot fairy and the number of pilots on a kill mail. The concept is that if you are flying alone and you kill another player, his wreck would not be completely destroyed as only one ship was shooting it. The solo pilot should then be indulged by the loot fairy and thus be able to loot all the modules from his opponents ship. This would make hunting solo a viable profession for pilots as looting your opponents wrecks would be quite profitable in most cases.

If however a group of pilots destroys another pilots ship then the wreck would sustain more damage. There should thus be less recoverable loot from the group kill wreck than there would be in the solo kill wreck.

Therefore if a large group of ships destroys another pilots ship then the sheer weight of firepower from such a large group would leave almost nothing of value left but scrap metal. And thus no modules should be recoverable from this wreck.

Why do this? One-on-one fights are one of the best experiences in EvE and it needs to be encouraged. This would encourage more people to fly solo instead of in blobs because there would be decent isk in it. This would also discourage freighter ganking as having so many ships involved would remove any chance of loot drop. This mechanic would not change the value of kill mails, only the amount of loot dropped according to the amount of people on the kill mail.

And what if someone tricks a mission running battleship into fighting in hisec? That can be hundreds of million isk in loot.

The loot fairy is quite balanced. Every item has a 50% chance of surviving, period. The incentive to solo PvP is that you don't have to split the loot between other players. But then again, you'd actually have to do PvP that involves something other than shooting corpmates to realize this.

So even though a 10v10 fight is fair and fun, the wrecks are dropping almost nothing? Then think about how some fights are hundreds vs hundreds. And ganking, something that takes large amounts of players to kill large targets quickly, will also drop almost nothing.

I dont see an easy way to make this workable. Giving everyone equal chances of loot is simple and fair.

PvP (shooting other players ships) is a risky proposition with no guaranteed out come and that includes the ISK component of the situation. Sometimes you may win the fight but lose on the ISK side and that is how it should be.

So basicly nothing good at all would ever drop from titan kills then?
(you see where im getting with this right?)

Solo pvp is very profitable depending on where and how you ate engaging in it.

Exploration and industry are good examples of profitable solo pvp

I would have though that being the best experience should be motivation enough.

I'm my experience most pilots fly T2 fit at which point the loot is pretty pointless, unless you are solo ganking site runners or something like that at which point its hardly 1:1 good fights.

You still can loot your target right ?
Loot it the more luck you have the more it is. If your unlucky that´s live.

On second thoughts I'll revive this thread with a counter proposal: Weapons that do less damage but increase the chance of a loot drop. Not much use for solo, but could see some uses.

Why:
makes kills more profitable. Might be useful for when you know you can capture a defenseless ship like an industrial, may even be useful for ganking if you can get around the lack of dps. Could be useful for increasing drop chances from rats.

How:
Could be done a number of ways. Simplest being that a final blow from one of these weapons means that loot drops are @75% rather than %50. More complex ways could involve the server measuring the proportion of damage done to a target by these weapons compared to regular weapons and calculating a weighted chance of loot. This extra chance can apply to mods and cargo bay or just cargo.

What:
Takes up a turret slot (can be launcher or drone versions too) and probably best kept to short range to avoid kiting, maybe even poor tracking. They could be a standalone weapon with rainbow damage or each weapon type could have a version. E.g. 'looters' medium blaster, 'surgical' laser and 'sticky finger' autocannon.

Just throw that out there.

I try to be the last person to break out the 'realism' argument as I fly a spaceship submarine but this is idea right here is just too much.

What is your justification for this request? There are more money making opportunities around. What problem are you trying to solve that this is the solution for?

Not enough solo pvp? The problem isn't loot, the problem is risk aversion.

Not enough loot from rats? You get paid bounties for rats.. With very few skills and a 6 pack of beer I'm making 12 mil ticks circling an NPC beacon in a VNI, who cares about loot?

As a solo PvP'r i've wrestled with this idea for awhile, but in the end, everything i can think of hurts other forms of PvP or can be easily gamed by larger groups to make easy profits (such as, when FW was changed, and i believe it was goons who gamed the LP reward from kills by just farming alts).

I put a 'why' in the post and even said it doesnt do much for solo.

Who cares about loot? WH dwellers, gankers and people who realise they dont need much dps to kill an indie, genius.

The concept could provide some interesting choices.

Right now with the loot fairy system, if you are good at pvp you can actually SRP your losses if you can manage your loot correctly.
This is true for some form of solo pvp also.
First there is the insurance for T1 ships. Then, if you loot carefully the ships you break your loot will add up to a nice sum pretty quickly.
for example you can fly a breacher un FW, fight T1 frigs and have a pretty good chance to save enough loot to buy yourself a new fitted breacher.
However it does get harder if you like to fly T2 cruisers or higher as the insurance isn't very good for T2 ships.
You can also hunt ratting ships which is usually profitable (not too much if you end up getting ganked but still)

So I get that it can feel weird that pvp isn't very rewarding in terms of isk, but it still feels pretty balanced to me

Haven't you heard? Svipuls have a chance to drop a PLEX whenever they get destroyed, starting in the next release.
