Changeable ship looks

I don’t know if this has been but forward before or not (probably has) but here goes anyways.

My proposal to make the look of a ship interchangeable in the same faction and ship class. For example, if you are Caldari and want the fly the Golem you can make it look like a scorpion or a Rokh.

Ship classes could be (they would include T1 and T2 variants and maybe T3?):
• Frigate
• Destroyer
• Cruiser
• Battlecruiser
• Battleship

To be able to use a different skin would require that you are able to fly the other ship and have one in your possession. Also I think that in the overview the original ship should be listed so others know what the original ship was.

Together with the ship skins that are now available this would allow people to customize a ships look completely and also make sure that lesser used battleship skins are seen more often.

What do you guys think?

I think this is utterly pointless and would be a complete waste of dev time.

You want to fly a ship that looks like a scorp, fly a scorp.

While I think that modifying a ship's looks slightly is fine, I think that changing the complete ship hull isn't.

No, tech 3 variants of BBs and Frigates? Yeah that would be awesome, but your idea? no, just no.
