If I use a HAC to drop on top of a gate sniper and start orbiting and hitting him with blasters, am I going to get scratched?

I am not familiar with sniping fits, but I assume their tracking is not good. Can a HAC orbiting at 3K go fast enough to stay ahead of a BS with a sniping fit?

No proper sniping fit will have a web so even with AB/MWD off a cruiser orbiting him tightly at 200-300 m/s will not take any damage. I would suggest using a T3D though for faster warp in and locking time as high dps is not required to kill glass cannon sniper fits.

You are right, cruiser can easily evade long range guns. You might wanna be more specific on what the enemy is using. If its an abc then a T1 frig could do the job depending on his sec and suspect status or if its in null... if you want to use a hac: active sac, deimos or vaga will do it easy

And then his Falcon will de-cloak and his friends will show up.

Do your research before trying anything, watch him and see how he behaves when challenged - then decide how you'll take him down.

Qft, Intel and a steel set are your best friend. Also remember if you have to run off, a straight line in some cases may make you a statistic.

You may want to consider the new mjd destroyers. They have enough tank to take a volley while the spool up and mjd to the target. A lot of snipers sit 100km off because that's a convenient lazy warp in distance which is convenient because your mjd is 100km also. I think there is a lot of fun to be had wonking solo snipers w/ these new ships.
