The single worst idea I have ever seen is allowing players to make a link that forces your external browser to go to where the linker decides, it's only a matter of time until someone uses this to spread a virus and steal information. You NEED to disable this immediately.

You are familiar with how a browser works, right?

That's before we get into the fact that the IGB is an extremely crippled and custom implementation of chromium, that doesn't run scripts, that doesn't fun flash, that can't download files etc; it also can't access ingame info without you trusting the IGB site asking for it.

In short html, amusing gifs and other images, dhtml, css and some custom ingame functions are pretty much the limits of what it can handle.

It's not long for this world anyway, the base version of chromium is outdated and being custom it's not as easy as just replacing the executable. CCP are looking at phasing it out as soon as they come up with a workable replacement.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

You must not see the links that people have that bring you to an out of game browser video of rick astleys never gonna give you up. It idn't going through the ingame browser, it opens a new tab on my chrome from a link in game.

...you're demanding the removal of some rather useful functions because you got rickrolled?

Really?

OP, what about your corp name? Seems to me you're just a fairweather Asset Relocator and Wallet Liberator, as you're not prepared to commit 100% to the role

come back to me after someone uses an alt to post a keylogger into local that infects your computer and gets your info.

I've never seen an ingame link open an external browser, you should report it as a bug because I'm fairly sure that it's not meant to happen.

Maybe you should try not downloading everything ever onto a system running a fifteen year old OS with no upgrades, no AV software, no firewall or even basic security settings?

Translation: OP cannot accept personal responsibility for his system's security, so he needs CCP to come to his house and teach him how to install an anti-virus.

Anti-viruses fix everything right? They totally can't be exploited when you are taking someone into your court where you know the rules and make some of your own. Get over yourself, it's a bad implementation that I can put a link into jita local and have however many people click it and have a significant number be infected by my virus. That's the problem I'm trying to prevent from happening, but if you want to let things be then it's on you. Don't come back crying because your computer had to be formatted because you clicked a link in local/fleet/wherever.

LOL!!!!! Lol You actually open links from people you don't know?!?!? Really?

Dude, seriously, the problem exists between chair and keyboard here. Sure, anti-viruses aren't fail proof, but when you combine them with basic common sense, they're 99.98% effective. If you don't utilize extremely basic computer security skills, like not opening crap sent to you by people you don't know, then you have only yourself to blame. There are some advanced tricks you can use if you really need to see what people link, but I'm sure it's much easier for you to have someone fix your problems for you.

It's a legit link I swear. I only made the link say danger to make OP nervous a bit.
