Is there a minimum amount of skill points or a certain set of skills required to start exploring wormholes? I have been playing about 8 months and have almost 10 million skill points with my scanning and exploration type skills pretty high...what else do I want to survive at the least and be successful in exploring?

if you can fit a probe launcher and a cloak you're all set.

Thanks! I figured it would be a lot more complicated than that...but I am sure it is!

Well most of the skills that are helpful in w-space don't come with SP Blink, stuff like keeping good bookmarks and d-scanning and the like. If you're into exploration all you really need is to scan and cloak and remember that only the pirate faction data/relic sites in c1-c3 wormholes don't have rats.

If you want to explore and run the data//relic sites (unguarded by sleepers) then all you need is a cloak. Probe launcher and some data/relic modules.

The real skill doesnt come from skillpoints as mentioned.

You need to learn how to bookmark your wormholes, Identify them, Class 1, Class 2, Class 3 etc

Learn how to gauge the lifetime of a wormhole. Is it EOL (end of natural life) or is it Stage 2/Stage3 Massed? (lots of ships jumping in and out of the wormhole)

You have a long journey ahead of you. it will be dark, dangerous however most exciting and fruitful.

My parting words - DSCAN. DSCAN.DSCAN!!

Since you're a newbro, let me build a bit upon what the above have told you...

You can explore a wormhole and look at stuff with just a scanner(pref. a cloak.). However, the higher class of wormhole, the harder the sites.

Class 1-3 wormholes have NullSec data/relic sites which aren't guarded by NPCs, you can do those, but the actual W-space data/relic sites got NPCs.

A C5 site with orthrus/turrets is likely to insta-pop your scanner if you decloak in the site.

You can run anomalies in Class 1-3 with relatively low SP. If you can fly a Gila or a Drake I believe you can do them.
In Class 5-6 you need something a bit more heavy. 2 Rattlesnakes or a Marauder would do.

If you are just after data and Relic sites WHs are a great place, especially if you find a shattered WH. They do take a lot more work though, as you have to scanned down WHs to get in and out of each system. (mostly safer too)

If you find Data and Relic sites look for ones with the Pirate factions names on them , anything else will be filled with very nasty NPCs.

Class 3 shouldnt be to difficult with a drake. The important thing is watching for your triggers. There is a site that gives good info on sleeper sites and triggers. Cant think of the name now.

I never tried class 5 and 6. can they be soloed in a rattler?

Sometimes you are the squirrel and sometimes you are the nut. Today, you are the nut and the squirrel is hungry.

It's not about the SP, it's about the thickness of your skull. Anything below 1' should do - for everything else, there's ISK.

They also spawn in C12 (Thera), C13s (the 25 small ship systems) and (some) shattered C4s. There are some very special shattered c4/ that just contain Sansha sites and have one rather special site ;)

Yep that's true, we had that Sansha C4 in our chain once and I got a solid 200 mil isk from the relic sites in there

Battleground?

I found one of those in a WH system (pretty sure it was a shattered) so many cans and about 200mil of loot.

I could very well be wrong as I was going from posts I have read and that the only one I ever found was in a Sansha WH.

What system did you find one in?

I found one in a C13 WH, but I did not have pictures to prove it, unfortunately.

You have enough skills. Make sure you have the attitude that occasionally losing your ship makes the game more exciting -- and you have the isk to replace ships.

Plus, required comment that you'll learn a lot faster by joining a WH or exploration corp for a while.

An hour after I created this character, I was flying around in a C3 wormhole. I had no clue what I was doing but that isn't the point. The starting characters have decent scanning skills, just jump into a scanning ship and have at it.
