FanFest 2016 Dev Track

Hey people!

I would like to see if there is any interest from you all about participating in a dev track at this years FanFest. Essentially I would like to know who would like to do a presentation at FanFest focused on third-party developer stuff. This can be anything related to third-party development from working with one of our APIs to deploying your application. If you're reading this I assume it is because you're a developer so basically anything you would find interesting most others around here would as well.

There are two examples from last year. I hope to be able to put a bit more effort into it from my side this year. Last year I was incredibly sick over FanFest and a few of the things I wanted to do never happened.

This post is mainly about gathering interest. If you're interested in participating please reply below. If you have an idea for what you would do it about mention it and also mention if you would need a 25 minute or 50 minute slot.

I am considering a presentation around the theme of the developer docs and how to get the kind of info and help you need to do third party dev. (Join slack, obv.)

Not got much in the way of firm plans. If that sounds like something you'd be interested in, I'll start doing some research etc.

No confirmations needed yet. Just looking to gauge interested. We haven't even started sorting out the schedule internally yet. Once the internal stuff starts getting sorted out I will be able to give a timeline. For now just gauge interest on my part and get you all thinking about it.

Follow up, possibly worthy of it's own thread. Is anyone interested in a 3rd party dev round table? Some sample discussion topics just off the top of my head:


  • 3rd party dev coverage at CCP, ways we can influence
  • Exciting projects we're working on (show and tell)
  • Partnering opportunities for new projects (github party time)
  • Internal/external libraries or APIs we wished would exist, but don't
  • 3rd party uni (think EveUni for third party devs), should this be a thing?


I think these went for an hour or two at FF 2015. This would also be a way to present ideas you think aren't ready for a full on talk yet, etc.
