New to the game and PvP, looking for Merlin fits.

Hi all, as the title says, I'm new and looking to get into solo and smallish (10-ish or less) group pvp.

I'm looking for a couple different builds to fly my Merlin with, one for solo, one for group.

I've done a bit of reading and think I want to try scram kiting with rails for the solo build, but I'm kinda lost as to what to fit on the 4th med slot, as well as what rigs to run.

The group build I have even less of a clue, I'm guessing tackling with blasters? MWD and AB? Or just one and an extender?

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks.

This one is fairly regular scram + web merlin, for tackle dps is secondary. Tweak according to your fitting skills, and wallet.

This is a different take, you lose the web but gain an afterburner. Once you land tackle, cut off MWD and orbit tightly using your ab to mitigate damage, or get off scram range if you're in danger and someone else has a landed a point.

If you want a long point tackler i would suggest you try the condor, which has excellent capacitor and speed, but less tank than the merlin.


As for the scram kiting fit, here is a take on it. 4th slot is a second web to make sure you get a good chance to control range. Rigs are fitting (for the plate, might slow you ship a bit much, ask around for people's preferred loadouts), damage and optimal range.

I've had success with this scramkite fit. It's hull-tanked rather than armour-tanked so it won't slow you down.

At level 5 skills: 140 dps overheated, 4.15k passive EHP + 2.39k "repair" EHP. 9km optimal.

Here's a cool fit if you're fighting in FW where most fights are consensual due to plex mechanics. 300+ overheated dps which is massive for a frig, also double webs allow you to use void quite reliably as well as prevent anyone from scram kiting you. It's rare that someone will realize you have no point and run away and usually if they do realize it's too late and they're dead.

You can also swap the second web for a point and still have a solid AB brawler fit for sitting inside novices.
