Scram and Web Tiericide Needs a Better Look

I’d like to begin by saying that I am fully behind tiericide and almost every change that has been made in its name is a positive overall for the game from my perspective.

Scrams and webs, however, are not being changed in a fair way at the very least to small ship PvP. A set of meta3 tackle currently costs 500-600kisk—a modest cost. To still fit a scram and a web on the vast majority of the fits I have saved either ingame or EFT requires me to use somewhere in the neighborhood of 7misk on a now ‘compact’ set. Also consider that this compact set is woefully inferior to the old meta3 set of tackle in the way of 3% web strength and more than 1km cold scram range.

This also makes the only reasonable option for scram kiting (scoped) far more difficult in that the loss of 750m cold range doesn’t make for an easy fight compared to how it is now.

I suggest that this tiericide (like all others that came before it) be centered around the current meta rather than arbitrarily raising fitting costs. When ABs were fixed, their fitting remained consistent across the board with a few minor adjustments. A 10mn didn’t magically require 5 more powergrid after the patch than it did before which is the case with these new scram and web CPU numbers. I see no reason the obvious meta choice shouldn’t still be 21 cpu for ‘enduring’ webs and 27 for ‘enduring’ scrams. I would be ecstatic with the change if instead of forcing frigates into fitting compact modules to use classic fits, compact fittings gave frig and dessie pilots new options concerning their strategies.

Another possible strategy would be to buff frigs and dessies to an extent but this opens the door to lots of silly or otherwise outrageous fits.

Unless this change comes with a massive increase in drop rates, general small ship fittings are going to get far weaker or far more expensive (while still being weaker).

P.S. My dram fitting doesn’t work anymore because of the IFFA DC change. RIP.

EDIT: slightly more readable

Maybe if you post in feedback thread a Dev will take a look.

Or do you think you're just special and want to show off your smarts...

Yes, I'm conceited and would like to waste your time.

Real reason being that I did post there but rather than pointing to a threadnaught (or soon to be threadnaught) in my reddit post (where I expect to get actual feedback from players rather than mindless flame), I wanted to point to an actual Eve-O thread and this seemed the best subforum for that purpose.

you could have just said yes

Yep, you are certainly getting excellent feedback in your Reddit thread:

PlanetaryGenocide:
mfw he thinks stuff will cost the same after a tiericide pass
OP pls try to at least think a little bit before you ******* post

Grookskank:
You would have a better point if you'd cut out the very arbitraty cost things. Yes, you want to T2 versions of your ships and fitting will get harder.

Agier9:
a better point

Podoloco:
...Now you have to either make compromises in stats or in fitting requirements. This is, imho, much better than it was before....

spannr:
I'll ignore the stuff about price since you obviously haven't paid attention to previous rounds of module tiericide. ...

Regarding fitting costs, CCP are not stupid. This is a deliberate decision to make meta less effective than T2, and in most cases, to do so by nerfing the average effectiveness of meta options rather than increasing the power of the category overall. Adjust your fit to make room for T2 or put up with the lower effectiveness.

Plugawry_Zedznik:
[Scrams and webs, however, are not being changed in a fair way at the very least to small ship PvP.]

GOOD

Seems like the Reddit feedback is spot on so far.

I tried, coach. We can't all be winners.

EDIT: at least I got some positive feedback eh?

Moved things in a positive direction and probably saved some Dev's time.
Though, the same things could have been learned in a thread designed for such feedback. Keeps things all nicely organized and less strewn about.

Just saying....
