Congratulations,
I feel like posting a similar thread, but I'll just post a few thoughts here.
Maybe I can give you a few positive words, ... and then try to heed them for myself.

First off,
You put a lot of effort and time into your character. Nobody can take that away from you, they can only hope to catch you.
Be happy with the idea that they might have to PAY, potentially a LOT to do that.

Maybe EVEBOARD can come up with an asterisk system, like the Hall of Fame suggested for baseball players Blink

Second,
Hopefully, these same 'gotta have it now' players, will drop off the game at some point. because buying SP still won't make them better players. Then you can take pleasure in the fact that they paid more, for a game they quit anyway Lol

Third,
Maybe the influx of funds will help CCP develop it's game further. Eve is clearly ready for a refresh of some kind. That will require some time and thought from a development side.

Fourth,
I don't plan on buying any SP, but the option is available, and if it comes up as something I want, then I'll do it. You should too.
If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I worked at skilling my guy up for the past couple of years, so I could get to the top of some of the EveBoard ranks.
Top 200 over all
Top 1000 in SP
Top 1000 in a few catagories
etc
etc
It's been fun, and I'd do it again. The skill points aren't the key here, FUN is.
When it stops being fun, I'll quit. simple as that Smile

Hopefully, you can think the same way.
Best wishes

Do you guys really think there's gonna be thousands of people skilling to 250mil+ SP with money? I think none. The money it takes, and the amount of extracted points is just to high. I think 20 something will get some more people but not much more.

I dropped in several ranks already.
See the thread about 321 mil SP

I think I've lost some ranks in Eveboard as well. I find myself tempted to buy some injectors to grab lower levels in skills that I'm not mapped for. There's bound to be a decent number of folk who have Eve riches and/or alts farms that need culling, annd would see skill goo as an interesting project.

It's worth noting that the current top 2 listed are still 2003 players, so quitting seems unlikely.

For the rest, not having SP didn't make them better players either, but if they bought in I'd think them more likely to commit.

Yeah Tyberius, That does make perfect sense.
A guy that is willing to buy his way to the top has a serious investment, so probably is commited.

I was sort of theory crafting on that one, before the patch hit.
After the patch hit, the facts of it are easier to see for sure.

So far, the effect hasn't changed my rankings by a big amount. I don't like it in general, but I'm not really miffed about it either.

Sitting at 270 million sp and did it the natural way.......I view injectors the same way as using steroids in real life....Gets results for sure and they can be expensive, but it's taking a shortcut just the same......

I plan on breaking out the popcorn and seeing all the makers of said injectors, competing with each other for sales and bringing the price on them so low that's it's hardly worth it anymore.......Might take a few weeks or even a few months, but it'll happen.....P
