Is Price History Correct?

In the last 10 days in Sing Laison, according to the price history table and graph the lowest price for mexallon was 45.72 (the donchian channel does not dip below 45)

During those 10 days i have also had an open buy order slowly filling and have been buying mex at 43.91

As i understand it the price history is for ALL transactions? and there is some editing of outliers, but 43.91 must only be about 5-10% below the average.

So what exactly are those low and high prices representing?

No, there is editing of outliers, the exact formula used to ascertain whether given orders were outliers or not is (to my knowledge) unknown to all but CCP.

It's reasonable to assume volume plays some part.

AFAIK it only counts completed orders.

So if you have a huge open order and people do not completely fill it, it doesn't count until it gets completed (at which point I guess it gets applied to the whole time it was open, adjusting all that daily data).

And yes, it is fairly easy to game the max/min figures by setting up and completing tiny orders. Only volume and average are really interesting figures. Well and perhaps the possible indicator that minimum considerably higher than highest buy orders (which would indicate that nobody is selling to buy orders, ie. price is going up)

1 The last day or maybe 2 days is incomplete.

2 The older log is edited to remove supposed outliers from the high and the low. but its notable that this outliers from the average over time not just the day they occurred.
Because of this its possible to see an average that is higher than the highest price listed.

All this is true,

I'd like to add two thoughts/suggestions

1) Sometimes charts are really made nearly impossible to read because not all outliers are removed... I'd love to see the ablity to remove outliers I'd like (by some setting) as long as they were going to remove others by an algorithm.

2) I have never really seen it varified, or if so i forget, whether volume counts each transaction once or if it counts it twice, once for the buying acount and once for the selling account. I.E, if I put up an order to sell 1000 expanded cargoholds and you purchase the 1000 from me, was the volume in those items 1000 (as it should be) or is it shown as 2000, 1000 for me and 1000 for you ?

1) Right click on chart, select "hide min / max" and / or "hide Donchian channel".

2) Get out of Jita and go in a low traffic system. Check for something not sold a lot. Look at the volume. Dump few of that stuff. Look at volume again.

Once of course since is it just one transaction. So 1000 in your example.
