Windows 10 drastic FPS drop Please help this is unplayable

So I've recently upgraded to Windows 10 over the weekend and am just now settling down to play some EvE for the first time since and I'm slammed in the face with a drastic FPS loss. I run with 16 GB of RAM at 2133Mhz, an Nvidia GTX 980 Ti, and an Intel i7 4790k so it's not the hardware.

So the issue is that in any type of game environment, even with all settings turned off and low, and on one screen even at the lowest resolution the FPS doesn't pass 15 period. I'm used to playing across 2 monitors at 3840x1080 but while troubleshooting I'm not even doing that. Nothing I change seems to fix this.

Onto troubleshooting. We're on a 2 day old fresh Windows 10 install so it's not a file issue. My Nvidia drivers are up to date and have even been fresh installed twice while troubleshooting, multiple computer restarts here obviously as well. In the Nvidia control Panel I've reset every setting to it's default for both global and the game so it's not in the control panel.

As per this thread:
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=5950458#post5950458

I have gone through these folders and I have full access to everything across all users on the computer so it's not a permissions issue nor does my CPU spike during EVE usage which is unfortunate as this seems to solve the problem for literally everyone but me.

I have run the launcher in administrator mode, even direct launched the game exe as an admin and still nothing. No matter what I do I cannot get the game to break 15 fps under any settings configuration what so ever.

Please help me resolve this issue players or CCP as I've been a paying player of this game for nearly a year, love it, have multiple accounts, but this is game-breaking and I will sadly let my accounts dissolve if this cannot be remedied. 15 fps is just point for point unplayable in this type of game imo, and this is the only game on my entire computer to be suffering this issue since installing Windows 10.

Sounds like the game is running on your integrated Intel HD 4600 graphics rather than your 980Ti, which comes down to a configuration issue. I dont know where it is in Windows 10 but you need to set it in your graphics control panel i assume, a profile for EVE Online to use your vastly superior dedicated graphics card instead of the integrated one.

Or perhaps it is set ingame under the Graphics tab?

This is not very likely as the built in GPU is actually disabled if there is no screen connected to its DVI/DP output. Since I assume that OP is connecting the screens to the dGPU it is disabled and can't bee seen by either windows or EVE.

First, please update your drivers to the latest. If you're still having the issue, please do the following:

Open up your client, hit F12 to get to the Help menu, and click Report Bug there. Explain your poor performance in the box (extra points for opening up the FPS monitor with ctrl-F and taking a screenshot to show us) and then come back here and post the EBR number for your bug.

The system information that gets submitted when you do this should help with reproducing the problem.

If you do this, I'll take a look at the bug report and try to follow up.

So I'm logging in right now for the first time since the OP without changing a single thing on my computer. No new driver downloads, no windows updates, no Nvidia settings changes or anything. The only thing that was different was EVE had a patch to install upon opening tonight and for literally whatever reason at all, I'm back to a stable 60 fps across both screens, even when multi-boxing and alt tabbing between the two.

Thank you sincerely for the answer and follow up Darwin, would you still like a bug report created and sent to you all to review? I'm not sure how all that works behinds the scenes but maybe there's still some value in the report without the issue occurring?

At the end of the day I'm just super happy I can continue playing this game and being in my happy universe. Thanks for the posts and care guys!

If the issue's not happening now, don't worry about submitting a bug report. It was possibly something transient, or possibly something that someone noticed and fixed, but either way it's not currently a problem.

Glad to hear things are working again!

Definitely and thanks again for getting me to just log back in lol. I've been so wrapped up in Otaku Blade And Soul life I almost forgot how to fly >:D

Love our cockpit cams btw and feel free to lock up the thread or delete it as you resolved my issue quicker than the support ticket I opened did.

Good Luck and Fly Safe bro
