Nighthawk is a good tank but you must be willing to spend around 900m for fitting, cnr is one of best but too much money or golem which is torps

Target ship size? Gang size? Active or buffer tank? Armour or shield? Does it need to tackle?

Vengeance and Sacrilege are awesome. Typhoon can be good depending on what you want to do. Blackbird/Rook for gang support. Caracal for anti-frigate/dessie hull is good (though you might get laughed at). Kestral for T1 frigate fun. Some people even manage to solo in bombers (though I still haven't figured that out yet). I've seen active tanking Navy Scorps do some fairly interesting things. Oh and the Drake (HAM or HML). Oh there is that dude who flies Nighthawks amazingly. And my personal favourite, the Siege Raven.

A little more information please, so it can be narrowed down to what will work for you.

Drake?

You can do some smart things with a nanofit Navy Caracal too (paging Creamster to this thread)

I would go for a Drake if I were you. You sound new to PVP so this is an inexpensive solution with a ship which has a big tank to compensate for the mistakes you will surely make as you learn to PVP.

Drake or Rook.
Drake's a solid brawler with a good firepower.
Rook's an awesome standoff ECM and missile platform.

I feel that if you don't know about the Drake already then you should quit the game ASAP.

I'm back!

I don't have much experience with ships other than Amarr.

For Amarr I would suggest Sacrilege, it's unique, looks good and designed for heavy assault.

if you don't know anything about missile boats, start with a caracal, they are cheap, kill fairly well, and you will get good experience while training up for the drake.. (which is a blob magnet)

Two tears in a bucket...

If you want to stand out use a Sacrilege.
