Just got access to lvl 5 agents, and been working through lvl 4s solo. Anyone have any words of wisdom on what or who I should take with me? Currently just flying a pretty well fit Geddon.

Geddon won't do it, not enough resists. But an abaddon or abso with a pair of guardians can manage. Sadly lvl5's aren't very lucrative atm. The isk payout isn't any better than lvl4's and although they pay a ton of LP, amarr navy LP is getting terribly difficult to cash in. I don't think the other factions are any better either. Don't get me wrong, they are pretty good when LP market conditions are favorable. But now the market is horribly saturated. So it just isn't a good time to run them unless you want to just horde the LP for a later date.

the NPC component of LvL5's that makes them challenging is the neuting towers. They will drain your cap, so you have to make sure your DPS and your tank are not relying on Cap (rattlesnake.) the DPS is not dissimilar to, say, The Blockade LvL 4 where you popped triggers-only and have all of the combined spawns incoming.

THe PVP component is much more of a threat. Lvl5 agent systems are few, and the systems are well known to all pirates. Even if you do hit such a system with a low count in local.. Chances are someone's been looking at you since you entered lowsec. Add scan probes to overview and scan every 10 seconds & be ready to GTFO. Hope you're not pointed in the pocket and have enough cap to warp out when s**t gets really real. Good luck :)

Gallente and Sisters LP work pretty good. NOvember and December I was able to earn plex to play eve thanks to those LP.

So what I am getting is an Ab might do it, but with my coward ways, there is no way I am flying an Ab solo, lvl 5 fitted into an almost guaranteed gank zone :) And, even if I did want to brave it, the rewards just aren't there. How is the salvage in lvl 5?

Also, been seeing some scuttlebutt (not to get off the topic) on Militia warfare actually starting to pay off? (The reply about the PLEX reminded me of it)

Salvage is not as good as taking the same time to run another lvl5. Especially if in this increasingly hypothetical situation you're still alive and local is still clear. :)

The salvage is bogus but the anti navy missions are a fantastic source of tags (which you will need thousands of to cash in your LP). Generally speaking, I only loot/salvage those with a crap ton of tags or the rogue drone ones. I guess that works out to 3 missions out of a dozen or so I actually accept. The rest I simply blitz.

As I've already said, an abaddon can't solo it. You will have around 3k incoming dps (average lvl4 is about 350 dps) in addition to instantly being capped out by neut towers in most of them, though not all. An abaddon will only work if you have 2-3 guardians feeding you cap to shoot your guns and armor to keep you alive. There are other ways to do it of course, a single archon laughs at lvl5's. But I suspect that is beyond you atm. Full passive ships like the rattlesnake also work for solo but they are limited by their anemic dps.

The rats are also just as stupid as in lvl4's, so you can exploit the hell out of their aggro mechanics. A rifter can permatank any lvl5 by simply orbiting at 100km and thus never actually getting shot. The trouble with that method is most lvl5's have many spawns and so your dps ship will frequently have to warp out to avoid taking the aggro. It can also be tricky to get them to aggro said kite ship without getting too close to them. I don't think it's a very good way, but if you're desperate it does work (sort of).

Oh, as for SoE, there are no lvl5 SoE agents. Lvl5's are only available for navy type corps for the major empire factions (including ammatar mandate and khanid kingdom). The minor factions like mordus, SoE, thukkar and so on do not have lvl5 agents.

The area around Iges/Uphallant is relativly quiet. I recomend a passive-tanked Rattlesnake with atleast b-type resistmods, very good level 5 mission ship.

Everyone makes such a big fuss about the Pirates, LP Conversion Rates, Blah Blah Blah . . . They must be the other L5 runners trying to keep you from crashing their LP (even more).

L5 missions Easy Mode

1) Decline every mission that can not be blitzed

2) Run with an Alt or a friend. (Passive tank one, DPS/RR the other one). I like the assault frigate/Bship combo myself.

3) Fly cheap ships, if your fleet cost 125 million, you can replace them with 2 missions. You WILL loose ships. Usually to NPCs but every once in a blue moon one of those dreaded pirates will get the jump on you. If a pirate catches you it was probably because you didn't follow rule #1.

4) Use warp core stabilizers when you are changing systems . . . seriously . . . nothing collects pirate tears like stabilizers.

5) ADVANCED USERS ONLY - Look at who is in system. If their corp/alliance name includes "NINJA" or "UNICORN" add them to your warning list. Add the alliance of anyone who scans you down to your warning list. After a week you will know who all the bad guys are. If there are a lot of bad guys in a system, just go to the next agent . . .

I honestly don't care if you run them, I've pretty much stopped since diving into a C1 WH with a t2 fit harbinger gives better isk/hr than blitzing lvl5's. The reason, as said, is LP saturation. I have about 2M LP sitting around that I am simply unable to get rid of. I cashed a little in just to get some income off it at the wonderful rate of 460 isk/LP, only about a third of what I would have expected just a month ago. So run them if you want, just don't expect to make any more isk/hr than you would running lvl4's in high sec. The isk payout is about the same, the LP pay maybe 10x as much but frankly that's not a whole lot of isk atm.

I am ready for lvl5 mining missions. Where are those?
