XCOM 2 is a great game...

...when it doesn't crash!

But it's a lot more involving, emotionally and narratively, than the previous iteration...I'm actually beginning to care about the squad members this time, rather than viewing them as portable meat shields.

It's good to have a break from the forum warrioring! Lol

Still waiting on my download. But from the gameplay I've seen, I expect this will take up a great deal of my time in the future.

One of ours, ten of theirs.

Best Meltdown Ever.

Holy heck this game.

The evening of the fifth disappeared, and I looked up from the keyboard at 6:12 AM. This might be an even bigger time guzzler than Civilization.

Isn't it just!

IMO the story is a lot more engaging than the 'first' one (although the very very first one, back in 1994? 1995? blew my tiny child mind then), and the narrative pace is pretty good too. I have high hopes!

Are you having any problems with intermittent crashes? When I first started playing, it would crash every ten minutes or so - I dialled all the graphics settings back, and that seemed to work ok. Now we just have to wait on a patch from Firaxis! :)

No crashes, plenty of slow loading screens (something I haven't minded since I started playing EVE so long ago, lol).

Depending on what settings you had, one of the forums I frequent said that one of the settings, they can't tell which, probably has a memory leak, which is the cause of crashes(my money is on the anti aliasing, which has always sucked with that engine). Even then, depending on your system, the graphics might need dialed down anyway.

It's terribly badly optimized. But the gameplay is so compelling I don't even care.

Highlight of the day, one of my Rangers took down three Stun Lancers in one turn when all three of them rushed him at once. Then a Muton shot the floor out from under him and he died from the fall. Ugh

Spent a few days waiting hopefully for a performance patch, but now I've tweaked the settings as best as I can, 30-35 fps in combat is something I can deal with... unlike the toaster this laptop is quickly resembling. Now that I'm actually playing it, it's been relatively enjoyable thus far, although I'm still trying to get my head around the facilities, comm towers/links... acquiring staff in the last Xcom was certainly a lot easier as well.

Finally, a friend just sent me a screenshot of one of the generated mission names he got out of the hat... I had to laugh. Some of them are downright silly, but this has to take the cake. P

Machine can't handle it, at least until it gets better optimized.
Found out after the fact they didn't release it for console.
Middle aged nerd rage ensued.

Still sulking.

I still go back and play the 90's x-com sometimes, it's a classic. I should download the new one.

Shakes head slowly in disappointment at this poster's comment.

Not even once

EVE is becoming shallow and puerile; it will satisfy neither the veteran nor the "WoW" type crowd in the transition.

A friend of mine made a horrible misstake, he went straight for the "objectives"

Game lasted 20 hours and BOOM, it was all over.

He payed 64€ for the "pre-release" package..never had the time to experience much of it ^^

So, whatever you do, do not rush the storyline.

Yeah, I did that too (but perhaps not with such zeal)...game was over in like 4 days. On the flip side, I'm gonna leave it a month or so and then replay on the hardest difficulty setting...or at least try Oops
