Nerfing of the industrial ship requirements

I notice that the industrial haulers seem to have been nerfed heavily. For example, the Iteron V used to require a level V skill to fly, that was why it was the Iteron V. Now, you just need Gallente Industrial I which takes what? 7 minutes to train? Same for haulers like the Epithal. Seven minutes of training and you can fly it.

What was the reason for this nerf? Shouldn't hauling be a speciality that requires training investment?

Each hauler now has a unique role. Every race has a fast one and a big one. For Gallente those are the Nereus and the Iteron V respectively.

So now you have options. You can either use the big, lumbering one or you can use the faster, more agile one. Both are available to you at every skill level; they just get better as you skill up.

Or at least that's the idea. More interesting choices instead of everyone just flying an Iteron V because of course you fly an Iteron V.

(You might also note that the other Iterons are no longer named as such and some have rather specialized bonuses. The whole thing was quite massively overhauled in the name of more meaningful choice amongst industrials.)

Ok, I see, there is a bonus for every level of Gallente Industrial skill. That makes sense.

And as a bonus for everyone who has Gal Indy 5, Gal have the most industrial ships (epithal miasom and kyros and the the 2 standard haulers) . So the SP investment was not waste.

Industrial Level 5 unlocks the Transport skill, which will let you fly Blockade Runners and Deep Space Transports - Viator and Occator for Gallente.

I've yet to find a reason to train any racial industrial other than Gallente just because of the diversity of their ship's bonuses.

Can anyone explain to me why you would train amarr/caldari/minmatar racial Indy, other than for aesthetic reasons?

400k EHP with a T2 Bustard might do it.
Or tankable 2500dps (unheated) in a deadspace fit.

Minmatar are the fastest, so if you're looking to travel in null using jump bridges they're a good bet to reduce jump fatigue. I've also found some niche uses for the ammo hold of the minmatar ship (can't think of the name right now...) though it is far less often than I use the specialized gallente industrials.

Doesn't one now have a small drone bay, making it the best of combat haulers?

Battle Nerus and Badger are common.
