I haven't seen terribly much about DUST, and I'm curious if there's going to be a split-screen multiplayer option. Not local multiplayer, but similar to the "Guest" system that Halo uses... only tied to trial accounts. As I imagine it, a main account could have up to three attached trial accounts, and if any of them upgrade to full account status, the main and trial accounts both get something nifty (But not OP).

The practical reason I suggest this is because none of my friends have ps3s or PCs... so I'm the lone denizen of New Eden. I've always wanted to get them involved in the New Eden universe, and DUST seems to be the best way to do that, as it appeals to their gameplay tastes (FPS) and the ps3 is a significantly lower barrier to entry than a quality PC. I also don't have a ps3, but I'm seriously debating buying one to play DUST, in the hopes that after playing it on my console, they will be motivated to save their money for a console/copy of their own. Since most games are boring without friends, I thought it would be most convincing if I could play alongside them.

I'd be shocked if Dust allowed for co-operative splitscreen mode. Actually, I'm not even sure it's possible considering the dynamics of the game.

Most FPS are relatively simple in one respect: You select your "character", and join a server for a short battle; then you go back to the server join screen when the battle is finished. Usually, you're not far from it when you respawn either.

Dust is a little more complicated than that as I understand; in that, though every battle takes place on a dedicated server like regular FPS, you are connected to EVE online, and also maintaining some form of persistent world setting. On a seperate layer than EVE Online perhaps, but never theless, on the same server.

I'm not sure you can Splitscreen that. Maybe if PS3 had the capability to run two instances of the same game, and two seperate accounts in splitscreen at the same time. Dust 514 is also tied to your PSN Account, (thankfully mine doesn't have stupid name); and all indications point to it being limited to one Account per PSN ID/Account. On PS3, your PSN ID is your user environment in your OS.

You can log off one user and move to another; but effectively, you are limited to that user until you do so.

Playstation has a super-nice 240Hz monitor than can splitscreen in a fashion that allows two people playing to see only there own game on the same monitor using the 3D technology that was introduced on the platform some time ago. Very cool. Technically, 3D technology only requires 120Hz; so I'm wondering if it allows 2 player splitscreen in 3D.

Either way, it's pretty neat. I'm not really impressed by 3D TVs or the like; but maybe that's just because I can see the flatness of the 3D effects. To me, they're like 2D images that are held slightly farther out from another 2D image. Really, they just look like stacked cutouts.

2D Surround would be nice though. I know; Totally off-topic.

I too have my doubts that there will be split screen in DUST 514. But really, I guess we will have to wait an see.

However, I could see them having trial accounts and the buddy invite system available. Would certainly help people that are sitting on the fence to make the leap and at least try it.

I doubt splitscreen will be in the game as almost no games support split screen.
though Dust can be linked to eve for some matches ( i suppose this would be ranked? or official)
it will also be independent but i still do not think it will have splitscreen.
