I'd like to apply for a job listed on the corporate site, however, according to what I've been able to research it's seemingly impossible for me to do so. The job listings I'm interested in state "You must be currently authorized to work in Iceland for any employer" but the Icelandic Directorate of Immigration has this requirement for obtaining a work permit:

"In order to be issued a work and residence permit as a qualified professional, the applicant must have signed an employment contract with an employer for specified employment requiring specialized skills, not a short-term project."

Furthermore it seems that employers have to apply for the work permit on behalf of the employee.

This is a catch-22 as I need authorization to work in Iceland but need to have an employment contract before I can get work authorization. So unless I'm currently working or authorized to work in Iceland I can't apply for these jobs? Or am I missing something?

Just show up unannounced and start living. If they try to kick you out make a stink about it, and say your home country is no good. You're just trying to make a living, and you've been there for x amount of time... Also help to knock someone up.

Some bleeding hearts will rally behind you.

Come on boys lets get this trend started! **** it if you cant speak the same language. Time to take some jerbs!

Got a similar setup in Aus. Awesome to be a resident, can get an easy assed mining job and be set for life after a few years

Over the years I met Russians, Germans, people from SA, etc, who wanted to go the the USA but would run into issues about emigration.

I tell them to go to Mexico, get a tan, and then sneak into Arizona. There they can get a drivers license and welfare checks just by sticking their hand out for it. They won't need to have car insurance when they drive either, and will get free medial care too, and can get caught doing all kinds of things and get away with it. Just have to keep that tan and keep speaking Spanish.

The stupid milk cows (citizens) will dutifully keep paying for everything.

Kinda of funny the US takes a lot of heat for our immigration policies. (Or desire to greater enforce them or deport some people) but Europe and other 1st world nations have way way stricter policies in place, and many of their businesses wont hire illegal immigrants (due to lack of official papers.)
