Game within the Game

I believe Everquest was the first to do this. Basically while experiencing downtime such as raid form up, waiting for a raid spawn to clear or even long distance travel accost Norath players needed something to do. The solution was a TCG (tradable card game) witch could be launched from within the Everquest game. This game was playable even for people without Everquest accounts. And the result was a conduit for new players being introduced to the game lore and eventually playing the game.

Now I have some information and I'd like to propose it to the community. But since I'm sure there are rules about talking about other developers products and how they lack anything resembling human dignity, I'm going to be vague.

The game already exists, just needs new text and art work with an Eve theme and references to Eve lore.
40,000 player base Free to Play CCG ( collectible card game) ie no trading. Ooh and by the way it was rated top 10 CCG 2 years in a row and once as top 5.

Now companies often acquire other companies for tech, Equipment and even in some cases their work force. So why not consider obtaining a game to gain access to their player base?

With almost no effort this game could be integrated into Eve. Make these cards trade-able in the Eve market under their own tab and now this 40,000 player base game has the single most requested feature that they have been begging for since the game was released.

Throw some redeemable items in the booster packs and now you have Eve players playing the popup game trying to get those, Throw redeemable items in New Eden that can be used in the Card game and so on.......

So my question to the Eve Community is thus:

If with little effort CCP were able to integrate such a game with EvEOnline... which we could play during down time, and that would possibly be a conduit for new player grown in Eve,

Would the community approve or appreciate such a feature being added?

+1 for vagueness warning :')

Some in-game minigame would be nice to pass the time when waiting for fleet up or something. During actual server downtime could also be fun. Don't see a huge necessity for it though.

Nice idea nonetheless ;)

Just to be clear, the first EverQuest minigame was Gems, which could be played while waiting for raid formups with the '/game' command.

Ship spinning is the only game we need in EvE.

No, not in the game, a seperate game.

I would love ccp to make the EVE CCG a mobile card game, ala hearth stone. you can play it while your waiting on coms for the fleet to start or while your out doing crap with your phone. Mini games are not needed in eve.

However, as ccp got a $30m injection of cash into VR, a 'social module' (yes i know SC is crap, but meh) aspect of eve might be useful. As in you go through the CQ door and into the social game with valk and not legion pilots. This would be were you would do the game in a game.

IMO ccp should make two new games:

An EVE CCG mobile trading card game

And a new VR Duel game... EVE: Mindclash.

Legends of Norath was an awesome TCG, I placed 9th at the first big tournament and made $5000 the first year of release.

I'd support an in-game TCG to be integrated into EVE; hell even the old EVE CCG which already exists would be an interesting idea.

Don't know about Everquest but have played Everquest II and in fact still have several characters there. Everquest isn't even remotely the same type of game and turning EVE into a space Everquest would mean its no longer EVE.

Whoosh.

OP.

Yes I'm in favor of mini-games inside Eve. It really makes sense. I've even suggested it a few times. Eve is meant to mimic life (in space) what do people in space do between blowing people up, they play games. Go into a bar and they play games. Etc.

There should be mini-games available when sitting in station and ship-to-ship games too. Arcade style games, (play punisher vs rifter fight for 1000 isk) and these games could be publicly view-able so and an in-game betting apparatus to create a whole subculture. The mini-games might even be worthy of e-comp if done right.

No interest, or if there is interest, it is very much on the backburner and low priority. But yea, bringing the Eve TCG into the game would be a nice first step. And it would allow CCP to actually introduce meaningful micro-transactions. $1 for a 5 pack of cards or such.

My choice of pronouns is based on your avatar. Even if I know what is behind the avatar.

Mini-games are generally crap and don't offer anything in terms of RP.

For a theme park they are ok.

? not an eve most requested feature.. It was requested in the CCG. I guess there is no harm in saying that it was Duel of Champions . It was announced in Jan that the game was being abandoned. Dev posted on the forum that the game was no longer being supported and there would be no more fixes/updates or expansions. The community didn't believe him and a second dev was required to confirm that BB wasn't making a joke.

So just like that the game went into death mode. For those of us who love it we are all trying to find a way to save the game. Talks of a fundraiser to buy the game, and Ideas of integrating it into another game. Lots of tears.....

Judging by the replies you've gotten in this thread. If CCP listens to these players for feedback in regards to the game, then surely EVE will die.
