Blueprint Copy -> Blueprint Original contracts scam

There I was on my trial, checking out what's changed in EVE in the past two years, accumulating my nub isk, when I spotted a contract posted in local by someone claiming to be clearing their hangar owing to quitting the game.

"Cool", I thought, "I've done something similar before letting my account(s) suspend so I know I have enough isk for a PLEX if I want to return".

I browse through the 500mil (supposed to be 5bil) contract's contents. Some low-grade faction/storyline items, a few blueprint copies for various ships, two pairs of Raven and Scorpion blueprint originals.

Wait, what?

I check the info on the blueprints again; still originals. I close the contract and reopen it, still originals. Nobody's grabbed it yet and they linked it with a minute to go to downtime, but I'm on a trial which can't accept contracts and even if it could it doesn't have the isk!

Let me just reactivate this account of mine during downtime and hope nobody's nicked it before I manage to log on...

Hang on a second, now when I go check the same blueprints on the same contract, they show as copies...
In fact, now the blueprints which were copies are showing as originals...? What the heck?

I expand the contract window to show more columns, seeing as the default size hides all that extra information.

Blueprint Copy - 1 Run Remaining

Oooooooooooh! I see now!
People have found an exploit which many are making use of en masse in Jita, making the unaware think a contract contains a bunch of BPOs when really it's just a bug causing all blueprints within that contract to show up as 'originals' until a different contract has been opened!

CCP, any plans to fix this? Also, is abusing a bug like this for the sake of scamming not bannable?

Video showing what's happening.

Petition or bug report it, if you haven't already. For now it's all you can really do is to shoot it up to the higher ups and let them handle it.

As far as banning, that will be up to CCP. It'll be their call whether to ban anyone obviously utilizing that for their personal gains in game. Beyond that, tell your friends to keep an eye out for misleading contracts and make sure they are especially aware of what you have experienced, as this is not the only case where that sort of prudence can save someone a lot of ISK. Contract and market scamming is not an exploit, but using a bug to hide true intentions could be depending on how CCP wants to proceed.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."
