This is mostly speculation of course but I believe weve concieved part of CCPs plans for nullsec. Bear with me and I will post as many links as I can. I will put this into as accurate a senario as I can invision. Lets say an Alliance wants to take control of a system. At the moment this requires a territorial claim unit. Now from what we have been able to find CCP has some new infrastructure like the Orbital command center http://eve.battleclinic.com/item/i3964-Orbital-Command-Center-details.html much like an outpost prehaps where you can set orbital construction platforms and Ion cannons http://eve.battleclinic.com/item/i3522-ion-cannon-details.html. Now we assume the existance of what we will term skyfire batteries, ground based space weapons. So a new senario might look something like this.

That alliance wants to claim a occupied solar system with a terran planet, the territorial claim unit, or prehaps a new way to be able to target the units like sov bloackade units might be connected to some piece of infrastructure either ON the planet or orbiting it, like space elevators. So this alliance comes into the system and attacked the orbital infrastructure, which makes them vulverable to ground based Skyfires.

So to mitigate this dust marines are brought in to claim the planet thus disableing the skyfires which leaves the eve players free to take out the infrastructure in space thus claiming the system. Now during dust operations defender could be supported by above linked ion cannons, or eve based ships, while attackers might have to bring in eve based ships specificly for the firesupport theyll provide, so trying to claim a planet without orbital support would be just as difficult as trying to fight your way through skyfire based defenses.

Also http://eve.battleclinic.com/item/i3945-Test-Mercenary-Base-details.html this particular item plus options in the overview settings leads me to believe that Mercenary Bases will be how you obtain Dust players to defend your planet, after you pay for them of course.

seems interesting!

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Your enter key, it appears brokded.

I got half way through, was interested but realized my eyes were bleeding so I stopped.

If anyone ever looks at you and says,_ "Hold my beer, watch this,"_  you're probably going to want to pay attention.

Let's say an Alliance wants to take control of a system. At the moment this requires a territorial claim unit. Now, from what we have been able to find, CCP has some new infrastructure like the Orbital command center ( http://eve.battleclinic.com/item/i3964-Orbital-Command-Center-details.html )
It's much like an outpost, and perhaps where you can set orbital construction platforms and Ion cannons ( http://eve.battleclinic.com/item/i3522-ion-cannon-details.html )

We assume the existence of what we will term 'skyfire batteries', which are ground based space weapons. A new scenario might look something like this:
An alliance wants to claim an occupied solar system which contains a temperate planet. The territorial claim unit, or perhaps a new structure to shoot, might be connected to some piece of infrastructure either ON the planet or orbiting it, like a space elevator would.

This alliance comes into the system and attacks the orbital infrastructure, making them vulnerable to ground based Skyfires. To mitigate this, dust marines are brought in to claim the planet, thus disabling the Skyfires. This leaves the EVE players free to take out the infrastructure in space, thus claiming the system. During dust operations the defender could be supported by linked ion cannons and/or EVE ships, while attackers might have to bring in EVE ships specifically for the fire-support they'll provide. Trying to claim a planet without orbital support would be just as difficult as trying to fight your way through Skyfire defences.

A Test Mercenary Base ( http://eve.battleclinic.com/item/i3945-Test-Mercenary-Base-details.html ), in addition to options in the overview settings, leads me to believe that Mercenary Bases will be how you obtain Dust players to defend your planet, after you pay for them.

Bottom line is more structures to receive a CTA mail about shooting while AFK. Yes, very interesting. Yawn

I do not think your considering the implications of this if its correct, you would not be able shoot while afk as without securing the planet first would potentialy be a bad idea and not supporting the invasion could mean its failure. It would require some actual activity.

How many years of experience do you have in 0.0?
