I went through the previous threads trying to see if there was progress on using the new launcher to clone settings across accts but it doesnt seem there has been?

Wiped pc and installed win10. Decided to start fresh with client settings as well. Set acct 1 up somewhat and attempted in various ways to clone settings to other accts using profile manager but no luck. Does it work and im missing something, or is that business about elevating char settings to global level or something still in the works?

If it isn't how does one go about this now? Was using garpaui before but that seems obsolete now with the changes and not sure if the manual copy/pasting ids method still applies either.

Like the new launcher btw. Would be nice if the whole multi-accting thing could be unified and all characters exposed to the launcher. Kinda sucks to keep track of multiple accts with different billing periods.

The settings will be overhauled in the near future, hopefully.

We are also looking into exposing characters to the launcher.

No dates on either of these, but it is being looked at.

Plz, don't do this by moving all to a single file.

I like it that i could easily give all my chars/accounts the same settings just by copy&paste-ing some files and let it rename by a script.

Creating the same settings (window positions, chat-channels, overview-settings, etc etc) bei 10+ chars, with 3 screens and 3 differnt graphic-settings all MANUALLY would make me explode!

Like the idea of the char thing :-)

So, I migrated to the new launcher and all seems well. Can I get rid of the old profiles and client folder after this? There's a couple of gigs to be recovered, which is always welcome on an SSD.

I wish the network error dialog was less intrusive. I was playing another game yesterday and it suddenly popped up, minimizing the said game.

Workarounds are not bugfixes.

Multiple Acct user:

1. i can multiple acct log in but not multiple account log out. (in fact the logout button seems to do nothing at all).

2. It would be nice if you could setup a default pilot for the game to launch on each account. Im guessing a lot of multiple account users log into the exact same pilot on each account every time they play.

3. The "side" messages now overlap part of the log in screen, this seems like a step backwards not forwards.

Yawn,  I'm right as usual. The predictability kinda gets boring really.

Good point, I'll look into that.

Until now, I have never had a problem with any of the game launchers.

Now, well, sometimes it just takes a while to actually do anything.

Other times, I wait for it to do something and nothing happens, my longest wait was 10 minutes before I gave up.

Please fix it.

You can tell Windows not to stack items in the task bar. That's a global setting, though, it won't be specific to EVE clients.

In Windows 7, right-click the Start icon, hit Properties, select the Taskbar tab and change the setting for Taskbar buttons. I would expect the behavior to be similar in other versions of Windows.

Yes, well, i was implying specific to Eve. :)
Would be great if you could implement an option to stack or not different client.

I'll see what I can do.

Looks like Windows stacks items if several copies of same .exe (full file name) are launched.
With old launcher: separate copy of same .exe in each install dir -> no stacking.
With new launcher: .exe moved to SharedCache and it's only one file -> stacking (if not disabled in Windows settings).
So, dirty workaround would be to create separate copy of main game .exe for each account/profile.
Maybe symlink is enough.

And my own question:
My current setup - 2 copies of EVE, both started usually with shortcuts like 'd:\games\eve1\bin\exefile.exe /end /LUA:OFF /noconsole' and 'd:\games\eve2\bin\exefile.exe /end /LUA:OFF /noconsole'.
As result, all settings stored inside install dirs, not in %AppData%\Local\CCP\EVE.
If (or when) I'll decide to switch to new launcher, will it discover my settings as available for import?

So, the launcher patched today and said it needed to change permissions on the sharedcache. I let it do its thing and everything seemed fine, but when I click play it gives me this error.

http://imgur.com/UKg9skT

There is no repair.exe in the folder to be found.

Edit: I ran the old launcher against the shared folder, it downloaded another 28MB of data and that fixed both launchers. Ugh

Apologies, but I have caught the dumb.

I installed the new launcher today, following the video tutorial.

I've used the Client Settings Tool to migrate my existing single account profile over to the new launcher, installed within c:\EVE

On trying to clean up from my old install, the first snag I hit in the video is that the old launcher files are shown in c:\Program Files(x86)\CCP\EVE

But I have no such folder.

My settings are are in C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE

and If I delete the EVE folder and subfolders from that path, it removes all my profile settings from the new launcher. Can someone tell me where I'm going wrong and let me know what I can safely delete.

Err... Since you actually do not fix the issue with pasting the password in the Launcher for mac I'd like you to send over a person who can type in my 64 character password whenever i need it. See it as a person whos only job is to stand by and wait for me to need to loginto eve and play. When can this person arrive in sweden? You ofc need to pay their salary and where ever they are to live. But then need to be max 30 seconds away when i need them to typ the password.

OR you can patch the launcher... Your move.

The launcher staying on the task bar after eve has launched is annoying.
I keep clicking it by accident.

- The title of the launcher is "EVE" not "EVE Launcher"
- The icon is similar to the main eve icon
- The icon is blurry
- The launcher should minimize to system tray when eve launches, or at least the option for that should be available.

There is an option to minimize to tray when closing.

Could the "there is new update, updating in 24s" be created in a way, that when the window does not have focus, the timer wouldn't move. or better yet, if there is eve client launched the same thing.

Currently there is problem that UAC or even just the cmd window breaks fullscreen games (e.g. EVE) and requires you to return to desktop. Also for me UAC breaks mouse for 5s till I can press UAC ok, and then another 5s to get it back (I'm using synergy and it needs to reconnect to server when privileges are changed). So if I would be in combat, I couldn't do anything for total of 10 seconds. Luckily this does have not happened during combat so far.

So back to original suggestion, I think the automatic count down should be some how stopped. If anything else, settings option to disable the counter. I know that I need to update the launcher, when it suits me (but asap).

ps. love the new launcher!

Hi,

I tried installing the client on a newly set up windows 7 box (64bit). The launcher initially starts downloading but then stops with a popup about network problems.

edit: after a restart it worked all of a sudden. Probably not a launcher issue after all.

Thanks!

Please no. Launcher can have that as an option but definitely not as only behaviour. Mine is up all the time and allows me to start eve clients on other screens.

Providing a simple way to import everything from the old launcher to the new with Steam would be great. I just verified my cache with steam regarding EVE and it gave me the new launcher which I didn't particularly want since the old one worked just fine.

Now all of my settings are gone, overview, drone groups etc. Starts me in fullscreen, UI is reseted, everything is back to default. Sort of a bummer since it does mess up my gameplay a bit.

I find it strange there is no response to my inquiry. Will you guys be adding the ability to paste in your password on the Mac launcher? I currently will not play as there is no way i'm going to waste my time typing in a 32 character unique password. I think it is silly to change my password to something less secure because of a reduction in functionality of your 'new' client.

Could you please respond and give some feedback on this issue? Is there a way I can bypass the launcher? When doing a fresh install of the client I am only presented with "eve launcher.app" instead of the old client that I could log into manually. It looks like this is now being pushed as the exclusive way to login for Mac users.

Thank you,

This is a known issue in the underlying framework - I'm hoping to have a fix in early January.

So "early Januari" is when exactly? June perhaps? When will this be fixed? This is a really really annoying. It is now mid Feburary and no new information about this. This "new" launcher sucks. The new Launcher forces me to use it. I cannot get around it to launch a client. Thanks. Typing in my 64 character randomly generated password is nothing I will even try.

I'm sure it's been mentioned but new launcher is not taking my settings from the old launcher. When I load up the game, everything has been reset
