My week in eve, code, Mercs and kb padders and my rant

As you play Eve and mix with the people within, be they the good or bad, I find it's always people that change the road you travel down never really the game, yes it gives you the tools but interaction is the key, a true sandbox in effect

So interact more
this week for me, I found Mercs groups fighting over Poco (I think it's called) . Why do groups like that own custom office in the 1st place, what next Merc run mining ops and what do people think is a good tax rate for this and what was the npc rate when they owned the offices

Back in the Anti-ganking channel, met some new people wanting to help out, they got tips on the best ways to do stuff, also got some asshats kicked from the channel for being ganker alts and just idiots

Not sure why code feel the need to attack the channel and course unrest, when they tell us we have no effect on what they do, strange don't you think Big smile

Back on the Merc story, never try looking at mercenary war history when doing something important, it can lock the game up.
So why so many war decs, can the high sec Mercs tell me the % of real contracts to just picking on weak small corps for easy kills.

Maybe a force to keep the idiot Mercs in check is needed, players who like to PvP but not kill new players or bait on the undock at trade hubs, or war dec a mining Corp and say oh you upset someone just doing our jobs job, what a joke, right now high sec would be such a target rich place for such a group. Oh and turn up if you allied someone and they need help in an area, at a time, it's no better than the "double your money scam" you see in jita if you don't

Was reading minerbumping the other day and jame315 was going on about gf again as new order ripped apart a high sec Corp in the name of the code, still waiting for my gf for my part in a code fail, it seems you just get code tears when they fail

Anyway sorry this turned into a bit of a rant, I support law and order within Eve, and will fight for that, Mercs have a place, some very good at what they do, others no more than bullies and scammers

Contact me in game if you want to help, I understand not wanting to reply here, it's a risk I'm happy to take

You've done so much in a week and all I've done this week was run Sec 3 missions and train skills.

Merc hold poco's in holding corps in order to have a passive income to maintain a standard number of decs, along with other means of making isk, it what help Marmite keep a steady 80+ wars at all times.

Hey,
Let me give you some advice and backstory.

Don't think in terms of good and bad. It's a game, morality doesn't apply. Even if it did apply, your "good guy" corps, freighters, etc... Are really just collateral damage in the larger dialogue of the pvp community's attempt to change eve.

I lost a vexor and a domi yesterday trying to bag a Macharial off one of the Uedama MERC corps. There were no good guys or bad guys, just people playing a game. Yesterday, they got me. Maybe tomorrow I'll get them. I hope they had fun. I would have had more if the Macharial popped. So it goes...

MERC corps have members because they promise to hold large numbers of war decs. They don't care who those decs are. You can say what you want about them targeting noobs, but they're holding war decs against all the big null alliances already. If they want another 20 decs, they pretty much have to hit high sec corps.
-ask any of them, they just want fights. They are bored senseless and trying to dec larger numbers to fix it.
-most would be happier splitting up into small corps if they could afford it. Pooling of resources has been necessary as warfare has gone somewhat "pay to play".

CODE is a protest against the direction CCP is taking the game. The miners who get ganked are just props to them. The role play is there just to give everyone context. They are still protesting the pacification of high sec "retribution patch".

Before the retribution patch, Ganking was pretty rare and high sec war dec corps were common, but small and beatable. Retribution raised the cost of war decs by 2500% and changed aggro mechanics to make baiting and can flipping much more difficult.

The MERC minded people all banded together to afford war decs into a relatively few overpowered war dec alliances.

The flippers and baiters mostly quit, but a group of them turned into CODE.

Like I said, most of the ship losses are really just collateral for either a protest or boredom.

I'm glad my shop losses are at least real enjoyable competition. You should try it without all the drama and angst, it can be fun.

Thxs for the back story, sure we all play for different reasons, after all its just pixels on a screen, but we can become what we please within the game.

I'm happy with my place in eve and pleased there are people like code and pirate to fight, I don't really care what type of people they are as long as they give me content, I'm sure most are very nice out of game and pick the part they play in eve to have fun.

Will people who play space hard man and bullies not be happy I stand in the place I stand, industry and mining groups seem to be happy from the chats in game I have had,

Still planning my next step but my aim is to have great space battles in Fleets with real people, being ex military I am drawn to eve by the planning and tactics that can be use in game, I have seen how small group can effect large numbers of people,

Long live the fighters I Say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps I was mistaken, I thought you were asking why CODE and high sec MERCs do what they do.

I was trying to supply back-story.

Not MERCs nor CODE will be unhappy to see you take up arms. Nobody understands fighting as a
Means of delivering content better than them.

I've been a griefer and a MERC for years (I'm not claiming to be good at either, mind you) and I enjoy white-hat adversaries very much.

Please, by all means fight. However, be creative and make a story out of it. AG forum posts are traditionally a dry read.

Hit me up in game if you want, I don't mind helping or training if you like. Especially for a fellow vet.

I wouldn't sweat it. The gankers eat their young. They are like hyenas... any sign of weakness by one and the rest jump him. Guys like you are a negligible threat compared to the threat posed by other pvp players higher up the food chain.

It's good to know one's place thxs, actions speak not words, It's about using all the tools, this forum is one

So what do you do in eve other than threat assessment

I Blame CCP for watering down the newbie experience. When I began playing all of Eve was a harsh place, wardecced within a week of playing, I learned to fight back, beat off the dec and several after. I found I enjoyed PVP within the game, the first 3 or 4 years of my eve life was dedicated to it in one form or another.

CCP spoon feeds newbies for far too long into this game, so much so that instead of being weened onto solids, they desire to suckle the nipple of afk play and isk farming instead of learning the real fun in the game.

I demand my HTFU eve back please Mr / Mrs CCP ( ive looked carefully and still can't decide)

That's a pretty in-depth assessment of someone who has not experienced player combat in EVE

Oh wait, you have, in Uedema. My bad, sorry - I now see how your experience has coloured your opinions!

PS - you had a cloak - you could've used it to save yourself! Sad

Says the man with 20 odd kills total on their main, I believe I registered 58 kills with my main on one good day. Happy for any young buck or stat padder to call me out on this figure for a small wager.
