Mid slot modules jump from 0 to 100% damaged on activation

Activated AB, shield boost amp, 2 deflection fields and warped to DED site. Usual procedure. Note: No modules damage showed at this point.

On entering site the AB shows around 20% damage. AB damage jumps to around 60-70% within 10 seconds and the other shield modules all start to show damage, starting around 20% and jumping to 100% (full red circle) in 10 seconds. All this while I am taking damage from rats, which is now getting through due to my no-longer-effective shield mods at 100% damaged.

I warp out and repair.

Thing is, there was no indication at all of any damage to any modules before I jumped in and I had hit "repair all" at the last station - nothing damaged - nothing to repair.

Worse, had I been scrammed by the rats, then I would not have been able to tank due to the 100% damaged modules.

Bug or feature?

Why would you overheat everything on rats?

Apologies, my post was not clear. I was not overheating at all. Modules were initially showing 0 damage, no overheat, and then quickly to 100% as described.

Although you state that you were not overheating...

Is the issue repeatable?
Is Thermodynamics entirely untrained on the character in question?
Were any special environmental effects in play in the area (WH effects, Incursion effects...etc)?
Were any non-midslot modules affected?

If the answer to all of these questions is negative then the most likely explanation is that you accidentally hit the "overload midslot rack" button (or its keybind).
If this would be impossibe (rather than very unlikley) your best course would be to file a bug report stating such details as system, complex, effects you're aware of, ship and character...etc.

in general prop mods generate a lot of heat, and a shield boost amp increases heat damage from shield boosters.

simplest explanation is that you hit the overload all mids button. If there was a bug pressing f12 and submitting a bug report as soon as possible after the bug is encountered is recommended as that will have the possibility of the logs showing something.

Thanks for the replies.

1. Raised a ticket to CCP.
2. Moved mid slot icons away from the mid slot overheat icon.
3. Tested mid slot overload --> Looks a lot like what I saw.
