Guess you never heard of market pvp , wich reading your post actually makes sense to me.

Guess you've never heard of dictionaries or grammar reference books, which reading your post actually makes sense to me.

OT: What is it with people biomassing their characters these days? Is the only way to avoid eternal shame to 'opt-out', as it were?

I think piracy still can exist today. Just no one cares enough to do it. If anyone does, then please let me know. I'll fly with ya.

While i live on the space outskirts of 2 large lowsec alliances, i find usually all i can take solo is the usual ratter or cyno frig.
seems these days a lot of people are out to just hotdrop or gangbang in blobs.

But then there is taking a pvp procurer to nullsec and ransoming an explorer as i camp his undock.

Opportunities for piracy DO exist, they are just not always in the most obvious places.

My thoughts on piracy is that it's non-existent. Many corporations out there in low-sec and null-sec are just there to PvP. It's more about the fight than the ISK or being a scum bag. Ransoms or not, piracy used to be about being the most ruthless pilot who would do anything to tip the scale in his/her favor. If that entailed snipping from 100KM+ away, using ECM, using DAMPS with Warp Core Stabbed Ravens (*cough* Burn Eden *cough), then that's what they did.

I think piracy still can exist today. Just no one cares enough to do it. If anyone does, then please let me know. I'll fly with ya.

You have flown with some well known groups,I remember them all, I miss the old days of anti-pirate v pirate

I miss my days of pirating. We were one of the few groups that actually let people go if they payed the ransom. My favorite thing to do though were singing ransoms. We once had a European guy with a thick accent in a Kronos scrammed on a gate and we invited him to teamspeak and made him sing us a Britney Spears song. Best. Ransom. Ever.

Good Sir;

I get killed by pirates while FW plexing in low sec all the time. Their only real concern are gate-camps. You have to wander a long way to find good afk targets--since most of us have wcs.

Why bother going into a plex with stabs? these are suppose to be battle arenas and here you are being a little cat.

you are one of the problems with faction warfare, your killboard is a disgrace i bet your a bot.

Low sec seemed to be alot more active some years ago. There was a distinguishable difference between being a pirate or a carebear.
Pirates were -10, and they were badass ruthless motherfuckers. When I was a noob I always wanted to be like them. The other players feared them, and they earned that fear.
I worked hard to achieve my first -10 status, I relished in the sound of the victims pod cracking. Remember how it used to make that wonderful crack-squish sound like an egg breaking? I certainly do.
The pirates I have seen in low-sec these days are a joke. All I have seen is a sniggwaffe blob, militia, noobs who went to low sec for no logical reason and bad pvp'ers who wan't to be pirates.

Carebears know better than to go to low sec these days, and when they do, they are very very timid.
Wardecs is the new piracy. That's why you can put a bounty on a +security player now. Every second bear puts a bounty on themselves so they can look cool. The wanted sign is no longer something to respect, it's an embarrassment. Any bounty under 1bil shouldn't get any wanted sign.

And so now I just do wardecs aswell... to be a "pirate". I do it because I like unconsensual PvP, which is what Eve has always been about for me, no other game offers the same experience in my opinion... ganking someone who doesn't want to be. Oh you liked that ship??? Too bad!
If I want consensual PvP I can go play Tribes Ascend. In-fact, I see more tears there than here. I don't even.

This whole thread stinks of whine and the affiliated cheese.

TunDraGon is the oldest still kicking pirate corp.

Low-sec, 0.0, w-space....you name it.

We will still be here when the last goon has extracted all his skillpoints.

Piracy in RL is robbery on the high seas...

Lowsec 'piracy' on its own is not isk-profitable, but it is definitely still a thing.

Prescan sites, look for probes, find exploration frig, astero, stratios, ded site runner - skillfully catch, ransom, blwo then up anyway, take their loot! PIRACY!! Over time earning the criminal status is nice for intimidation but eeeh; it does mean some people are more likely to run away from you than stand and fight.

Same can be done with haulers you catch, belt ratters etc. Having friends to help is a success multiplier.

People who complain about the fights in lowsec are simply not that good at it, or not hardened to the realities of it.

The only form of piracy in eve you can really make a living on is freighter or hauler ganking; and the competition can be stiff, or there is lots of waiting involved.
Most people who pirate in lowsec must have some kind of alt that can go to highsec to buy/sell things at trade-hubs.

Even RL pirates have to sell their items somewhere; to people who are not pirates.

Have tried all forms of 'piracy' except scamming.
I categorically reject the notion that lowsec piracy, or simply very good lowsec pvp, is not a thing.
