Launcher update error

So it all started a few days ago when the new launcher failed to download the launcher updates. From 998442 to any current one. The prompt showed up, I would click ok. It would think for a few seconds restart and then the same thing happens.

So I download a new version from the eve download website and it started working again.


Unfortunately I now have a new problem.

There is an error that comes up and says "Could not write file"
It says it might be caused by incorrect file permissions. I click yes to try and fix it. it thinks for a bit restarts and then the same thing happens.

I don't know what is going on and I wish for a hand.
I also don't know where the error logs are ether

From the drop down menu, select Logging - that shows you the logging for the running session. Log files are stored in %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\Launcher - there you can see the last five sessions. The logs should tell you what file it fails to write and give a clue what is going wrong.


Look in Task Manager - see if there is an extra instance of evelauncher.exe running, or exefile.exe. If there is, kill it and try again.

I had to restart my computer to remove an instance of eve, But the launcher is now working properly.
